I got the most awesome package in the mail the other day from my friend Brad, which turned out to be a Voice Box from Electro-Harmonix. Let me tell you.. this thing is fun. I love the harmonies in Fleet Foxes' music, so I thought I'd try to mimic them as best as one girl can, by using this piece of equipment to add some harmonies. This specific pedal is a voice box/vocoder, but for this song i'm not using the vocoder part of it. If it interests you, I'm using it on the "Muti Harmony 3" setting. So the voice box plays my actual voice, but then also adds harmonies that are customized to the chords I'm playing on the keyboard, so that it all goes together nicely. SO much fun!

This is the final part in the series of my KITT voice. Sorry it's been so long, I've had loads of other work to do. This video shows the KITT voice box complete and encased in an enclosure. This is an experiment I did with the Electro-Harmonix Harmonizer/Vocoder...the female-sounding backup vocals and harmonies were also done with the preset harmonies on the EH 256-band Harmonizer/Vocoder. I am using an old Casio SK-1 sampling keyboard to control the vocoder, and a Shure Beta 58 mic for the vocals and the formant control of the EH Harmonizer/Vocoder. It was my first experience ever using a vocoder, and it was incredibly simple to use. I was impressed with the performance of the new EH device and I highly recommend it for home recording and/or live performances. It is a high-quality device and tracks very well, and it was designed by the same person at EMS who made vocoding famous. This was recorded on a BOSS BR1600CD unit, and the "Seinfeld" sounding bass was provided by a preset on the Yamaha DTXPressIII electric drum kit. I used a 1981 Ibanez musician guitar (direct, no amplifier) and utilized the built-in guitar effects on the BOSS recorder. This was written, arranged, performed and recorded by me in my living room over the course of about 2 hours.
