I have obtained exclusive footage from an unreleased NES game prototype! I've managed to capture five minutes of never-before-seen gameplay video! You play as an Italian deli owner armed only with a steady supply of hoagies. You must make your way through a perilous world of danger to destroy the forces of evil. This game may have been kept off of store shelves due to its controversial title, "Hitler's Revenge". However, unlike "Bionic Commando", Hitler isn't actually IN this game. It may just be a simple translation error which was common in the mid-80s. I believe the most likely reason for the game's demise is its intense difficulty that makes "Ghosts 'n Goblins" look like a walk in the park. I've heard that this game is so hard, the programmers didn't even bother adding a second level. A cheat code had to be used to warp to advanced locations. There's also a rumor that a play tester went insane and died as a result of playing the game for an extended period of time. Fearing similar occurrences with home players, the game was scrapped. "The Wild Life" movie score is legendary to Van Halen fans, as Eddie Van Halen wrote the score for the movie (Universal Pictures, 1984). "The Wild Life" stars Chris Penn and was the first script Cameron Crowe wrote after the success of "Fast Times At Ridgemont High" and is a typical '80's comedy and is somewhat of a "Fast Times" clone. The movie was only released on VHS - never on DVD, unfortunately. Presented here is a compete instrumental from the movie score which has never circulated until now. Eddie played it on a Ripley guitar and called it "Ripley." ("Top Jimmy" was also called "Ripley" at one point. Both were written on Ripley guitars). It's a wonderful piece of music and is about the closest thing to "new" Van Halen music that we've had in a long time. First off, credit goes to a user called Layer who ripped the entire game soundtrack. Secondly, the song which I'm nicknaming "Half as Long...Twice as Bright" is a collection of three different pieces of music and played during the Evil ending sequence. The opening segment is the part where you defeat Nix and meet with Zeke. There is meant to be a long silence between this track and the next (buzz of the Sphere and talking filled the gap in-game) but I decided to cut it down. The second track is the powerful music during your battle against Zeke, this is actually unedited and extra long which means it ends weirdly (I've tried best to get rid of that) and make the transition between the two as smooth as possible. The last track is the ending. Due to the previous track being unedited, the song transition does not match all that well, as it was meant to end during the first 10 to 20 seconds. So overall I hope you enjoy the song :)
