Bionic Woman: I'm Jaime (A Cello Underscore)
This is an artistic essay--setting Lindsay Wagner's performance of Jaime (in a case of mistaken identity) from the episode "Deadly Ringer," to a beautifully simple cello piece entitled "Optimist," composed by Zoe Keating. That's it. No audio, no script. Just a straightforward, silent movie treatment. Since the end result is storytelling in the purest sense, what I was able to appreciate more is an episode that was beautifully directed by Alan J. Levi, incorporating some creative camera pans and Hitchcock-style angles that were not typical in this series. And Lindsay Wagner's Emmy-award winning performance speaks for itself...she didn't even need to speak. This piece explores collaborative movement forms and themes of play and identity. They will then discuss the artistic process behind choreographing the routine. It will be their second performance together, after Bloomington's recent Lacore Valmon Circus. Jeana fuses belly dance with other performance arts to explore aesthetic and thematic innovations. A solo dancer for over 11 years, she also teaches and performs locally with the troupe Different Drummer Belly Dancers. Scott blurs the line between juggler and illusionist, performing gravity-defying feats which have perplexed and amazed audiences across the country.
