Sun King (Backwards) - The Beatles - Abbey Road (1969)
"Sun King" is a song written by John Lennon but credited to Lennon/McCartney and recorded by The Beatles for their Abbey Road album. It is the second song of the B-side's medley. The faux mixing of Romance languages occurs in the last three lines of the song. In 1969, Lennon was interviewed about these lyrics and said, "We just started joking, you know, singing 'quando para mucho.' So we just made up... Paul knew a few Spanish words from school, you know. So we just strung any Spanish words that sounded vaguely like something. And of course we got 'chicka ferdy' in. That's a Liverpool expression. Just like sort of-- it doesn't mean anything to me but (childish taunting) 'na-na, na-na-na!'"

Gnik Nus (Backwards) - The Beatles - Love (2006) - Sun King [CC]
"Gnik Nus", which is featured on the "Love" album (and in the Cirque de Soleil production of the same name) is, like most of the other songs on this production, a re-engineering of a previously recorded Beatles song. In this case, Gnik Nus is the song "Sun King", played in reverse (note that the title Gnik Nus is Sun King backwards). Sun King first appeared on the Abbey Road album - it's the 2nd song in the album-ending medley. The history behind the Sun King song is a bit weird - basically, it's just the Beatles fooling around, singing odd snippets of lyrics in different languages - a bit of English, Spanish, Italian and Portuguese. 55 seconds of the Sun King was played backwards to create Gnik Nus.

Versailles was the former palace and dream castle of the French 'Sun King', Louis the Fourteenth. The history of Versailles covers the rise and fall of the Bourbons whose reign covered the most remarkable period of French history. Here, the French king lavishly entertained the decadent nobility, oblivious to the unrest caused by their false pride, supreme arrogance and almost total disregard for the poverty of the French people that would eventually lead to Revolution. Magnificent fountains decorate the palace's huge park that was created by 35000 workers, a hundred hectares of ingenious garden design with a strict symmetry of wide star-shaped garden paths that seem to be without end. Drawn by four horses, the god Apollo emerges from the waters of a fountain. This and further fountains and ponds were designed by Tuby and Lenotre, and are masterpieces of both garden design and the sculptor's art. Playful figures and statues adorn the park's many paths and even today emanate the joy and merriment of past days. Construction of the royal palace was completed some time after that of the gardens. The palace was to be the epitome of majestic splendour and was designed to accommodate the entire French Court, 20000 people! Containing more than 700 lavish rooms, the palace is a unique architectural masterpiece. In the opulence of the private rooms there are grand four-poster beds and splendid canopies. This was done in Beartracks and Bearsville Studio's owned by Jannis Joplin and Bob Dylan's manager Albert Grossman up in Woodstock. So the album is full of that Woodstock magic, that fills the surrounding hills. Eddie Kramer would try and talk us into buying Ferraris if the album went gold. It was a stand in joke in between takes, the session was full of ping pong, chinese food, plenty of laughter and Eddie's obsession with the album going GOLD, it by rights , should have.
