Why you dont want to be near the engine room on a cruise ship. The Pre Dawn Daily EARTHQUAKE. Every day as the ship came into port it was ridiculous the first time I was sound asleep, and i'm a deep sleeper. I was woken up from what felt like laying on a sub-woofer that kept getting louder and stronger. I said I would get it on video the next time, and you can hear how groggy I am at 6 something. The iPhone video doesn't do it justice that's why i try to put it on the headboard so you can hear what were feeling, its such a low frequency it rattles everything. Any day i knew we were going into port i didn't bother setting a alarm clock. Worst was when they used the bow thrusters. This was an interior room 2 decks up from the bottom. Now I only cruise higher with a balcony. Word to the wise..

This main dining room parade still happens once each Holland America cruise, but sparklers have been replaced by (shudder) glow sticks now and the "baked" alaska is barely singed with a mini blow torch.
