You guys keep me going! gonna try and covers some common subjects that come up in regards to this video. *** what is the strumming pattern: The main strumming pattern for this video is D-DUHUDU D=down U=up H=Hit down with nails side of fingers up with nail side of thumb up with flesh side of fingers only after hit. *** What does the title mean? I've said this elsewhere, I'm not very good at naming songs. no 'name' ever seems to fit right. I usually end up naming a group of song all at once when the album is being recorded. So when I named this song I remembered way back when I first started playing it the subway how different it was...and all the changes it went through to become the finished version... a lot of my songs tend to evolve...and this particular one, at that particular time, seemed to have evolved the most. *** whats up with the effects? i don't like the flashes or the effects either. Flamenco is a style of music and dance which is native to several regions of southern Spain. Along with its Romani origins, Spanish, Byzantine, Sephardic and Moorish elements have often been cited as influences in the development of flamenco. It has frequently been asserted that these influences coalesced near the end of the reconquista, in the 15th century. The origins of the word flamenco are unclear. It was not recorded until the late 18th century. Flamenco is popularly depicted as being the music of Andalusian gitanos (gypsies) but historically its roots are in mainstream Andalusian society, in the latter half of the 18th century.[note 1] Other regions, notably Extremadura and Murcia, have also contributed to the development of flamenco, and many flamenco artists have been born outside the gitano community. Latin American and especially Cuban influences have also contributed, as evidenced in the dances of "Ida y Vuelta". On November 16, 2010, UNESCO declared Flamenco one of the Masterpieces of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity. The Golden Age During the Golden Age of Flamenco, between 1869--1910, flamenco developed rapidly in cafés cantantes, a new type of venue offering ticketed public performances. Dancers became a public attraction. Guitar players supporting the dancers increasingly gained a reputation, and so flamenco guitar as an art form was born. Spanish Guitar Flamenco .Malagueñas is one of the traditional styles of Andalusian music (flamenco), derived from earlier types of fandango from the area of Málaga, classified among the Cantes de Levante. You can also watch Antonio Banderas - La Malagueña (Érase Una Vez En México) Originally a folk-song type, it became a flamenco style in the 19th century. It is not normally used for dance, as it is generally interpreted with no regular rhythmic pattern, as a "cante libre". It has a very rich melody with virtuous flourishes and use of microtones. Its guitar accompaniment is normally played in open position first inversion giving E for the tonic, which can be transposed by using a capo. Origins Malagueñas derive from local variety of the Fandangos, a type of dance that, with different regional variations and even different names, became very popular in great part of Spain in the 18th century. Although nowadays malagueñas are a typical instance of "cante libre", performed at libitum and normally not used for the dance, folkloric fandangos were originally sung and played at a fast speed, with a rhythmic pattern in 6/8, to accompany dance. Some of these primitive fandangos from Málaga, called Verdiales are still performed nowadays at folkloric gatherings by large non-professional groups called "Pandas", which use a high number of guitars, "bandurrias" (a sort of mandoline), violins, and tambourines. This is the original single of "Spanish Guitar" that Phil Lynott recorded with Gary Moore for Moore's 1979 single. As the story goes, this was approaching its release when Moore and Lynott had a falling out while Thin Lizzy was on the road promoting the "Black Rose" album. Gary Moore redid Lynott's vocals and released the single. That version was the one that was released to a majority of the world, except for Sweden, which accidently released the version with Lynott's vocals. Oops. This was taken from 'The Man and His Music' 7-disc set. Sorry about the quality...there's a few moments of hiss and squeaks that someone with an ear for it could probably fix. Regardless, enjoy!

BUY CDs HERE: www.cdbaby.com SHEET MUSIC AND LESSONS HERE: www.spanishguitarlessons.com This video is from my second day of trying out my guitarCAM at a live performance. I am playing in the Ghirardelli Sq. court yard in San Francisco. I've been playing there off and on since 2005. This is my latest version of my composition called "Fuerte." It will be recored in the studio in September. The CD should be available in late November 2010. This song has changed a bit from when I first recored it on my demo "classical and spanish guitar" There are a few note changes and middle section is now more symmetrical. Also, when I play it live, I use a loop pedal to lay down the rhythm tracks. I am pretty happy with how the guitarCAM is performing. I used the built in mic so the audio is in mono and sounds a little muddy. But it is still better than I expected. I'm exploring ways to improve audio quality in a simple practical way. There are a few pickup systems I am looking into that I am hoping to plug right into the camera. The guitarCAM mount makes it so easy to record guitar videos now. I'm going try to use it at all my gigs if I can. It will be great to be able to archive all my performances and track my progress as a guitarist. The other great thing is that I won't ever forget a cool jam or improvisation again. There is something thrilling about making up music on the spot in front of an audience. Now I can capture those ideas and develop them into songs. The guitarCAM mount ...

BUY CDS HERE: www.cdbaby.com One of my favorite compositions for guitar. This song was written by the amazing guitar composer Francisco Tarrega in 1896!!! He wrote many wonderful and memorable pieces for guitar. His music stands the test of time. I started learning this song in 2001. I don't think it can ever be perfected. Its not meant to be perfected. It is art. It is expression and emotion. Although he was a wonderfully technical player, Tarrega wrote this music from the heart. More important than playing technically perfect, is to play with the music in your heart. JohnClarkeMusic.com Get the official cd here www.cdbaby.com Also available on itunes.
