HOW ARE SKATEBOARD TRUCKS MADE? HOW ARE INDEPENDENT TRUCKS MADE? RIP Fausto Vitello "Fausto Vitello narrates a video tour of the Ermico Foundry, where Independent Trucks and others are made. Molten aluminum is poured into a steel mould, where it cools and hardens around the truck axle. The truck is then removed, filed, polished, and packaged as a finished product, ready to grind." www.exploratorium.edu www.exploratorium.edu

Rethread a skateboard axle very easily using a die. A damaged truck axle is caused from skating by hitting the axle on the ground. The threads get destroyed. Removing the axle nut will also destroy the threads in the nut, and may cause more damage to the axle. Replace any damaged alxe nut. A little bit of damage to the axle can be fixed with a file. Most of the time the axle threads need to be reshaped with a die. The die size is 5/16-24. 24, meaning fine threads. Avoid 5/16-18 and 5/16-32. I recommend the Reflex Utili-Tool, because it has all the other tools you need for a skateboard, and is about the same price as a die from a hardware store, or on eBay. If you have any questions regarding skateboard equipment I am here to answer them completely.

www.koastalboards.com Revenge longboard trucks are a revolution in torsion skateboard truck technology which allow longboard skateboards to perform like surf and snowboards. Revenge trucks perform turns not previously possible on any type of deck. A looser skateboard truck than the typical "Indy" style, the Revenge takes a little bit of experience to fully appreciate the endless capabilities of the truck. The Revenge longboard truck excels above torsion skateboard trucks because it drastically reduces both turning radius and effort. The patented external locking mechanism allows for the tightest turns while reducing the chance wheel bite, all with no need for riser pads with wheels up to 73mm, resulting in a full circle on a 47" board in less than 8 feet! Turning has never been easier.

Old School Gullwing Skateboard Trucks Gullwing skateboard truck Attached to the deck are two metal (usually aluminum alloy) trucks, which connect to the wheels and deck. The trucks are further composed of two parts. The top part of the truck is screwed to the deck and is called the baseplate, and beneath it is the hanger. The axle runs through the hanger. Between the baseplate and the hanger are bushings, also rubbers or grommets, that provide the cushion mechanism for turning the skateboard. The bushings cushion the truck when it turns. The stiffer the bushings, the more resistant the skateboard is to turning. The softer the bushings, the easier it is to turn. A bolt called a kingpin holds these parts together and fits inside the bushings. Thus by tightening or loosening the kingpin nut, the trucks can be adjusted loosely for better turning and tighter for more stability. Skateboard trucks are manufactured in a number of different axle widths. In general an axle width should be chosen that is close to the width of the deck it will be used with[2]. For example, a 7.75" wide deck will usually be fitted with trucks that have axles between 7.5" wide and 8.0" wide. Trucks that are too wide can make doing tricks difficult and can cause the wheels to get in the way when the skateboard is being ridden. Trucks that are too small can be hard to maintain stability and can cause wheel bite to occur when turning. Longboard specific trucks are a more recent development. A longboard ...

Two techniques that we use around our skate shop to rethread your axle rod on your skateboard truck. You can use either a grinder or a rethreader

Hollow kingpins break constantly. The reason is the hollow metal kingpin is not strong enough to support skateboarding . The kingpins are made of a harder steel than the aluminum baseplate. When a hollow kingpin breaks inside a baseplate it can deform and lodge itself inside the baseplate because it's a harder metal and can push the aluminum aside. If you have a hollow kingpin that is broken inside the baseplate I will replace the truck for FREE. Just pay to ship the truck to me. I need these trucks for research and for future videos. Steps to remove a broken kingpin: 1. File around the broken edge of the kingpin bolt. 2. On hard ground, hammer the kingpin down until the head of the bolt is hitting the ground. 3. On grass or soft ground, hammer the kingpin out the rest of the way using your new kingpin on top of the broken one. The soft ground allows the kingpin to come out of the bottom of the baseplate. 4. Push the new kingpin into place. Line up the splines of the bolt and with the grooves in the baseplate. When you push the kingpin bolt in, slightly turn the bolt until it lines up with the splines. You should be able to feel them connect. 5. Put the socket over the kingpin bolt. It's important that the kingpin be able to go all the way inside the socket as the kingpin gets hammered into the baseplate. If the socket is not long enough, the bolt will not go in all the way. 6. You can use duct tape to hold parts in place. 7. On hard ground, place the socket end on the ...

There's no actual skateboarding in this clip! First of all, thanks to all of you that are subscribers and those of you that message me. I'm glad to know you and I'm stoked so many of you are into it. Initially meant for this account to be a video dump for other stuff, but I'm pretty hooked on the community and friendships I've made here. Anyway, thanks homies and homettes! It just needed to be said. And with that: So I have a bunch of random stuff that needs to be looked at... luckily looking at things is easy. After this preview, I'll stop looking and and start some proper reviews. Here's what we have: First, what up Spesqueira! Scope out his "Makin' a Comeback Mondays." Start fro the beginning, it's awesome. www.youtube.com Various Bushings from Khiro (thanks Chri$, I'll get you back!): www.khiroskateboardproducts.com Skateboard-resistant shoe laces from Scoff Skateboards www.scoffskateboarding.com A strange but interesting skate deck (a P-Tip) from Performance Sk8 out of Sweden www.performancesk8.com ...and probably the biggest playa' out of all of these, a set of Theeve TIAX trucks www.theevetrucks.com Before we start breaking all of this stuff, I wanted to make sure you got a good look at all of it. Everything's on the forefront of some sort of technology, for better or for worse... later on we'll see if any of this is worth the money. Yay, no more lip-flapping verbal oil-spills! Well, at least not until the skate part is over. One more time, here are the links (if you have any really technical or nuanced questions, direct them over here instead of me because I probably don't know... I pretty much know what you see on screen about the stuff I review). Links: performancesk8.com http www.theevetrucks.com Spoiler I thought the P-Tip / One Skateboard Co deck was pretty decent and poppy (something that I honestly didn't expect), though I do disagree with their idea about where pop essentially comes from, that's not to say that I disagree with them completely, and after skating the plastic tips for a bit, I could see how certain skaters could benifit from them, though I don't think I fall into that class since I'm more of a board snapper (no focusing, I think that's stupid) than I am a razor-tailer. It's neat, actually. The Theeve TIAX trucks were really solid. I compare and contrasted them to a lot of other trucks, but even though I saw some characteristics that reminded me of other trucks, I can say that the Theeves had a feel and turn unique to them. If you like traditionally designed trucks (ie; anything but Tensor) you'll probably be OK with these. They carve, turn, and grind... I'm an Indy and Thunder fan, and I thought these felt fine for what it's worth. Of note: the skating scenes are filmed in order... the first scene is the first actual time I skated the board, then I just put in the other random ...

Hello again and thanks for taking time to use the suppliment of this text (and the text in part 2) along with the video itself. Actually, thank you for your time period! I'm super hyped, of course there are a ton of skaters on YT, but I've had the priveledge of meeting and making firends with a ton of fellow skate-geeks and it's been sick to share info, props, comments, and friendships. Remove stuck skateboard hardware/bolt that is stripped or rusted very easily. Sometimes skate hardware gets stuck and seems impossible to remove. Now you can remove stubborn skateboard hardware in under a minute. When skateboard truck screws are exposed to water and moisture they can rust by oxidizing the iron in the steel. This makes the screws brittle and easier to strip when trying to remove.

This video explains what skateboard wheel bearing spacers are, how they work, and why we need them. We take a look at wheel hubs/centers, truck hangers, and bearing spacers. You'll discover: 1. What skateboard bearing spacers are. 2. What bearing spacers do. 3. How bearing spacers work. 4. How bearings spacers don't work. 5. How skateboard wheels and bearing spacers don't fit. 6. How skateboard wheels are made. 7. Why a skate wheel is crooked and slow. 8. How a skating wheel can create speed wobbles. 9. What bearing loads are. 10. How the hanger of a truck can slow down a bearing and the entire board. 11. How skate wheels can be made poorly. 12. How a manufacturer of both skate wheels and bearings make their products fit incorrectly. This video shows in detail how bearing spacers and skate wheels are manufactured with conflicting sizes and rarely work in conjunction. You'll see how a bearing binds up and functions inefficiently. You'll also see how skateboard wheel molds and tools can cause a wheel center to be crooked and effects skateboard wheel and bearing performance. We used a caliper to measure the wheel centers and hubs. There is also information about how a skate truck hanger and axle also have a dramatic effect on the inside bearing and how it can slow an entire board down. This is caused by extra aluminum from the hanger getting on the axle. After viewing this video you'll discover that skateboard manufacturing is not always precise or of high quality.
