In October 2006 four aussie steam railway enthusiasts went halfway round the world to the small country of Eritrea in Eastern Africa to experience the restored line between Asmara and Massawa. This first segment shows our hotel in Asmara and some shunting activites in Asmara yard. I will over a period of time be uploading all my video of this wonderful experience. The Depot will serve the purpose of berthing the trains during non-operational hours and for carrying out various maintenance cycles. The depot will feed the trains into the system as per operating requirements. The members of the Thursday Morning Modeling Group of the Garden State Central Model Railroad club help me build my first garden railroad in my backyard. Bob Judge documented our efforts and in part 1 we show the building of the first loop and the mainline as it meanders through my garden. We began in early April and we finished in late May of 2010.

Another walk-round video showing the changes to the layout over the last 10 months. The most significant change is the continuos run on the new upper level with 2 new long sidings which can both hold a nine coach train and engine. I have also made a dedicated siding for the new TMD which can hold all the spare locomotives. Any other changes have been purely cosmetic. The upper level has added a new dimension to the operating procedures (in other words more complications) I now have 4 main line continuos running which is simply great fun to just sit back and watch trains go by!

The construction of the 421km High-speed railway from the Laos-China border to Vientiane will begin as planned. Laos and China agreed that construction of the railway would begin in April 2011 to mark the 50th anniversary of Laos-China diplomatic relations and be completed within four years. Mr Somsavat said that Laos and China signed a memorandum of understanding on the railway in April 2010 after President Choummaly Sayasone and Chinese President Hu Jintao signed an agreement to elevate relations between the two countries to that of 'all round strategic cooperation partners'. He also said the profile of Laos would be raised as it would be the first country in the region to have a high speed railway. The railway would be 421km long and include 190km of tunnels and 90km of bridges. It is envisaged that electric trains travelling at 200km per hour would carry passengers and trains travelling at 120 km per hour would carry freight. There would be five main stations along the line — at Boten, Oudomxay, Luang Prabang, Vangvieng and Vientiane. Mr Somsavat said construction of the railway would involve 50000 workers, adding that the project would train workers in Laos while management staff would be sent to China for training. The railway would form part of the Asean-China rail link, which begins in Yunnan province, China, and runs to Singapore through Laos and Thailand.

the abandoned rail yard that is located in dunellen NJ is a former part of the CNJ Main line. it has been abandoned for years but not so long ago dunellen had steam engine rides were a day before they would park the steam engines in the rail yard right were the abandoned work train is on this video. in the middle were me and my friend were riding our bikes there use to be 2 tracks in the center of the rail yard but the were taken out long before the yard was even abandoned. this railyard also once served as an engine terminal and was used to park engines and even had a turn table and round house

This is a short walk - round tour of my new garage layout. I am using a Digitrax Dcc control system which has proved to be very reliable and efficient. Most of the wagons and engines have been fitted with Kadee couplings and I am using the delayed action magnets were required. More videos to follow on soon..... VIDEO No.15 shows the changes that have taken place 10 months down the line (no pun intended) since this video was first made. Most noticeable of these is a new upper level which has access to the engine shed, new sidings and a continuos run leading back down onto the main 'up' line.

Steam Locomotives at Thonburi Rail Depot
The State Railway of Thailand (SRT) still maintains half a dozen steam locomotives that on four occasions a year are brought out to pull a special train from Bangkok's main terminus station, Hua Lamphong, to the historic city of Ayutthaya, a journey of around 70 miles. This remaining handful of once mighty queens of the iron road that have stubbornly refused to go to the scrapyard to join their once domineering brethren are lovingly maintained by the SRT and a gang of enthusiastic volunteers at the perfectly named Thonburi Locomotive House. A fitting location as Thonburi was once the key route into the capital on the SRT map, but that was then, now it has been reduced to an insignificant commuter line, while its former, famous waterfront terminus station has been unceremoniously chopped off from the railway map and all access to it in fact is gone, to make room for the massive concrete extension of the giant Siriraj Hospital, meaning that the stunted railway line now peters out more than a kilometre back from the menacingly dark waters of the Chao Phraya river. But while time and progress march inevitably on, more than a century of glorious railway history is lovingly kept alive on the rows of shining steel rails in the Thonburi yard. With the excursion set for tomorrow, today two of the mighty steam locomotives are being carefully prepared, readied to roll back the years once again. Of the six steam locomotives in the yard it is difficult to say how many are still in for <b>...</b>

Isle of Wight Fantasy Steam Railtour (Rail Simulator) HD
Take a fantasy alternate reality steam railway journey across The Isle of Wight off the south coast of England, via Rail Simulator. Best viewed in HD (720p). This journey shows what might have been if the present steam railway had been able to inherit the lines from Newport to Freshwater and from Newport to Ventnor West. After a view of a 1914 railway map. we join the short train pulled by the IOS Steam Railway loco Invincible at Ventnor West. The train heads west along the south coast of the island, before heading north through St. Lawrence Tunnel. Passing the junction with the line to Sandown at Merstone, we head to Newport where the engine runs round its train to the north of the station (towards Cowes), and then reverses, passing the former Newport (FYN) station and then west to Yarmouth and Freshwater. The video ends as it started, with a map of the island's former railway network. The route was recorded using the Island Line route to be found on www.uktrainsim.com. Look around, you'll find it, but you need to register. The route needs the commercial Isle of Wight product. The routes in the west and south of the island were closed in the 1950s, and the rest of the network was severely rationalised in the 1960s leaving a short electrified line from Shanklin-Ryde Pier today, and the steam railway. Bluebell Railway - First Public Trip on Ardingly Branch since 1963
Yes, see what's "Round the Bend" in Horsted Keynes! This was the first public trip on part of the Ardingly branch from Horsted Keynes since closure of the electric service from Haywards Heath in 1963. (Well stretching the truth a bit ;-). A brake car trip pulled by Fenchurch takes an express non-stop trip South through Horsted Keynes Station and on to the start of the Ardingly branch on 15th August 2009. Here we see some of the stock awaiting restoration stored on the parallel line before stopping (fortunately !) at the beginning of the gap where the missing Sheriff Mill viaduct was blown up by the army. Trip in aid of the Northern Extension Fund which hopes to reconnect with East Grinstead main line. Tickets cost just £3 and represented excellent value. After getting to East Grinstead and a bit of a rest, we hope the Bluebell will push Westwards to Ardingly and eventually back to Haywards Heath! This would give a spare route to the coast in event of an incident on the main London line and could be a "nice little earner" for the Bluebell. The large mound between the Sheffield Park and Ardingly lines is the site of the new "picnic area" created with some of the spoil from the Northern tip. It will be a great place for photographers - as long as the inevitable fencing isn't too intrusive! Sorry about the video quality, I only had my still camera with me so it's 4:3 and lower resolution than my other videos.

Hello this is trent valley model railway society (tvmrs) this video shows the new A1 peppercorn locomotive TORNADO produced by bachmann running round the full length of our main club layout on this video she is pulling 10 mk 1 coaches starting from the station past the engine sheds down the enbankment past the fidle yard and back up to the station as tornado comes back up the slope to the station she is assisted by a class 67 hornby loco in ews corporate silver as like a true A1 there was some wheelspin if you have enjoyed this video please visit our website on www.tvmrs.org.uk
