It's been a while since I've done a solo video, and a lot of you have been asking for some classic rock and stuff. I thought I'd try to cover a lot of your requests in a compilation video of my 25 best guitar riffs (in no particular order!). I wanna note a couple of things for anyone who's reading this.. So this is my list of the 25 best guitar riffs. Don't hesitate to let me know what I may have missed. By best, I don't mean most difficult or anything like that; I mean the 25 most recognizable guitar licks that I could think of. Everything is recorded live, and I'm not playing over any of the original tracks. I use backing tracks that I've found in various places on the Internet. I do all of the guitar playing you hear, even if you don't see the video. Oh, except for the second guitar in The Trooper, and the rhythm guitar in Thunderstruck. Those came with the backing tracks :) The sound is recorded into Garageband, the video is recorded into iMovie, and then I sync them later. Moriz Rosenthal was taught both by Mikuli, the famous pupil of Chopin who helped pass on certain approaches to the purported "authentic" method of performing Chopin's music, and also by Liszt. Rosenthal was amongst Liszt's most brilliant students. His recordings all come toward the end of his career, when his early fire and power had mellowed into a spirit of deep poetry. His playing is probably the most "colourful" of the Liszt students who recorded, with a command of keyboard tone and subtle chordal voicings of wonderful precision and perfectly nuanced shaping. His use of rubato is also sometimes very "19th century" but always absolutely compelling and never merely mannered. This recording of the Waltz in C# minor was made in 1930.

Notes by pianist Charles Rosen: When I was about twelve years old, Moriz Rosenthal played his "Etude on the Minute Waltz of Chopin" for me, and I can still feel my astonishment at the gentlemanly ease that accompanied the power he had retained in his old age. He was a cultivated man of great kindness who earned his reputation for malice only because he could never resist a bon mot. He must have found me amusing, for I had one or two lessons with him almost every week for more than three years (although, it is to his wife, Hedwig Kanner, my teacher for many years, that I owe the greatest part of what I have ever learned about pianism). With all his famous technique, Rosenthal rarely discussed technical matters: he spoke always about phrasing and tone. He was the first person who made me really think about music. His courtesy was unfailing. He never said that an interpretation was wrong, only -- "I have a different idea of this piece"; and then he would play part of it. Once he stopped me while I was playing the Brahms-Handel Variations and asked, "Why do you suddenly get faster?" "Because it is marked più mosso," I answered. He walked slowly over to the piano, looked at the music and then turned to me apologetically, explaining, "You see, Brahms let me play his music any way I liked, and I am afraid I took advantage of it. But you must play it as written."

season 5 ep 1 Wanda Jamie Foxx portrays Wanda Wayne, the ugliest woman in the world...so ugly, in fact, that no one wanted to be in the same room as her (in one episode, Dracula exposed himself to sunlight to get away from her). She supposedly is the long lost member of the group En Vogue but left because she was taking all of the men. One of these helpless individuals is often Tommy Davidson. In the final season of "In Living Color", Wanda had a child out of wedlock and searched for the father of a child (which ended in a cliffhanger). Trademark phrase: "I'm gon' rock yo world" and "I'm red' to go!"

A little background on this etude: Bortkiewicz's lifelong friend, Hugo van Dalen, the Dutch pianist and composer (1888-1967) told him that it was through his playing of the Etude Op. 15, No. 8 that he had met his wife. She liked the piece so much that she came up to van Dalen to ask the composer's name. This acquaintance led to their marriage, as a result of which Bortkiewicz unofficially named this etude the Verlobungsetude or Betrothal etude. Bortkiewicz was so grateful that Moriz Rosenthal recorded this etude that he later dedicated a set of his Lamentations and Consolations Op.17 No.1 to 4 to Rosenthal. Do enjoy this beautifully composed etude, interpreted by the legendary pianist Moriz Rosenthal. His interpretation has added a whole new dimension to this etude. There are times where the music sounds like it's coming from a music box, and at times when it sounds like playing on a bass guitar - Incredible! Apologies for the rather poor audio in advance. This was recorded directly from cassette recorder to PC. After which, many noise filters were used to reduce the strange ambient background noise that came from nowhere. A special thanks to my dear friend Hiroyuki for helping me with this - you did most of the work, here finally is the outcome, 8 years later!
