25th May 2010 "Over the new year 2009-2010, an international group of 1500 men and women from 42 nations went to Egypt to join a Freedom March to Gaza. They did this to protest the current blockade of Gaza. To protest the fact that the people of Gaza live in a virtual prison. To protest the fact that a year after the terror attack by Israeli armed forces destroyed most of their homes, hospitals, schools, and other public buildings, they have no possibility to rebuild because their borders are closed. The would be Freedom Marchers wanted to peacefully draw attention to the predicament of the Palestinian population of Gaza. The Egyptian government, (funded to the tune of $2.1 billion a year, by us, the US tax payers), would not allow the marchers to approach Gaza. How lame is that? And how predictable! I live in the USA and during this time Dec 25th 2009-Jan3rd 2010 I saw no reference to Gaza or the Freedom March or the multi national protesters gathered there. Anyway I was moved, in the circumstances, to record a new version of " We shall overcome". It seems appropriate. This is the first of two parts of the Roger Waters concert The Wall. Performed in the Gelredome, Arnhem, The Netherlands on April 8th 2011. I filmed the complete show. My position is on the front rail (in golden circle) on the right side. Being at the side, sometimes some views are partially blocked, but I tried to capture it as best I could and all in all I'm quite happy with the end result. I used a Panasonic DMC-TZ7. Being a pocketcamera in can only film 15 minutes max at a time. So sometimes a few seconds are missing which is me stopping and starting again. As for the show, it rocks big time! Roger really outdid himself with this one. Music topnotch as usual, but the projections are also of the highest technical quality and its almost a piece of art. Props to the creators. Notice how projection is so precise that it only starts projecting on a brick when it is placed by the builders. Everything is in there, The teacher, mother & wife puppets, a flying pig, fireworks, amazing projection and Roger fisty as ever. I respect the man who is still so passionate after some 5 decades of performing and playing\creating music. On a personal note, for me it's a dream come true. I've been to my fair share of big concerts, but The Wall was always the mythical concert from way back, which I could only enjoy in audio or video.
