Facebook: www.facebook.com This is very nostalgic for some of you, huh? Well it definitely is for me. I first heard this about 7-8 years ago and I have always loved it since then. What's unique about this arrangement is that I have given the viola the vocal line because the richness of the viola suits Amy Lee's (the lead singer's) voice more so than the sound of the violin. I also did this in my first Evanescence cover on the song called "Hello", from the same album. Instead of a piano, viola and cello trio like that first cover, I added in a violin to make it a piano quartet because of all the harmonies that were included in the original soundtrack. I spent a lot of time arranging this because I knew just doing a piano cover wouldn't be enough for me, especially since this is one of my favorite songs from Evanescence ever. The second movement is possibly the most known, as audiences remember the pizzicato opening; its usage in media, such as for the film "The Royal Tenenbaums" (W. Assez vif introduces two new melodies; a rhythmic melody and a contrasting "sung" melody, which is both graceful and heroic. It is as though these are character motifs. The machine then uses this melody to generate an original and unique 2 1/2 minute piece of music. The web visitor also recieves a link to a webcam video of their piece being played. "Take Five" is a jazz piece written by Paul Desmond and performed by The Dave Brubeck Quartet on their 1959 album "Time Out". Recorded at Columbia's 30th Street Studios in New York City on June 25, July 1, and August 18, 1959, this piece became one of the group's best-known records, famous for its distinctive, catchy saxophone melody and use of the unusual quintuple (5/4) time, from which its name is derived. While "Take Five" was not the first jazz composition to use this meter, it was one of the first in the United States to achieve mainstream significance, reaching number five on Billboard's Adult Contemporary Singles chart. "Take Five" was re-recorded and performed live multiple times by The Dave Brubeck Quartet throughout the group's career. In addition, there have been various covers of the piece. "Take Five" has also been included in countless movies and television soundtracks, and still receives significant radio play. Upon his death in 1977, Desmond left the rights to royalties for his performances and compositions, including "Take Five", to the American Red Cross, which has since received combined royalties of approximately $100000 per year. "Time Out" is a 1959 album by The Dave Brubeck Quartet, based upon the use of time signatures that were unusual for jazz (mainly waltz or double-waltz time, but also 9/8, and most famously 5/4).
