Sony Vegas Tutorial: Glossy Pillarboxes (for 4:3 Videos in 16:9 Player)
Youtube changed its video player from 4:3 (480X360) to 16:9 (640X360). How can you eliminate those ugly black boxes? Turn your video INTO the pillars! This tutorial teaches how to turn pillarboxes into glossy versions of your original video using Radial and Gaussian Blurs. Unlike stretching your video which causes the video to be distorted, the glossy pillarboxes form a soft frame around your original video which is more appealing than solid black bars. Everything was done in Sony Vegas 8.0 Platinum, but sadly Movie Maker and other simple video editors are not capable of this technique. The video I edited was my Flying Serpent roller coaster from Roller Coaster Tycoon 3. The glossy version won't be made public (I made better coasters since then), but the original video can be seen here: www.youtube.com I have seen this effect used recently in some proffessional WWE montages of past videos, before the widescreen format was used. I'm not sure how long they've been using this effect, but my inspiration was from those TV's with lights in the back that shine on the walls to be easier on your eyes. Notes: Copy video, place in bottom track Mute 1 audio track Crop original video Add Radial and Gaussian Blur to background video Render as widescreen video (640X360) 1: The original 4:3 video cannot have any sort of border or the effect will be lost. It's better to cut out a few pixels of your video than to have a border around it. Use cropping effectively, and don't be afraid about <b>...</b>

Dying Hair Red with Directions Pillarbox Red

I got my Directions PIllarbox Red hair dye today and decided to record me getting my hair dyed. I pre-bleached it about a week ago, and before I had used Special Effects in my hair but the bleach didn't get most of it out. Special Effects is some gooood stuff! But, here is my.. little dying tutorial.. My friend, Lisa did my hair because my hair is too long and we don't have mirrors all over the bathroom. 8] ALSO. I recorded one part, due to my camera dying, and then trying to switch the battery and record her doing the other part.. My camera douched on me and deleted the second video, so hopefully this 37minute long video will be sped up into something that'll please you all! I got the dye from ebay, but you can get it from ebay or the website. (I find ebay cheapest) It was shipped from the UK (cheapest dye EVER!) The dye is called Directions and color is Pillarbox Red. It is incredible to think that this pillar box has been standing there since 1901 at the latest and possibly since 1850 at the earliest. What's that - something between 107 and 143 years. As the camera moves further on it crosses to the church of St Mary's - Bridport. If you imagine standing on this spot one hundred years ago - there would have been dozens of horses, no cars and perhaps at this time there would have been most people still at work.

In Dorchester, Dorset not far from the Cattle Market is a Victorian Octagonal Royal Mail Pillar box. Sadly they have stuck a litter bin close to it so it spoils the lines of this wonderful box. You don't know what you've got till it's gone! Protect the Royal Mail. It is bad enough that the Royal Mail prints off tickets for parcels without the Queen's Head on them. i-SHOW-u Q Vic's pillar box Bath
This is a splendid example of Victorian pillar boxes found at the end of Pultenay Bridge. The shape, octagonal, was given up after they were exploded and the round boxes took their place. I have seen Victoria Pillar Boxes in Bath and Dorchester. This one looks better sited than the one in Dorchester. Perhaps they are ashamed of it in Dorset! The VR on the front of the Pillar Box means 'Victoria Regina" or Queen Victoria
