Ares Mission to Mars: Voyage (remastered) - Orbiter Space Flight Simulator

-- Original version uploaded on March 23, 2009 -- An Orbiter addon based on the novel "Voyage" by Stephen Baxter. "Voyage" is an alternative-history narrative in which the US President Richard Nixon makes a fateful decision in 1972 - to abandon the Shuttle program and concentrate all efforts on a manned landing on Mars. On March 21 1986, astronauts Phil Stone (commander), Natalie York (specialist) and Ralph Gershon (MEM pilot) launch on the Saturn VB - a Saturn upgraded with the addition of solid-rocket boosters which allows it to loft double the mass of the original Saturn V. After a Venus swingby on September 8, they complete a 368 day outward voyage to finally land on Mars on March 28, 1986. MISSION ARES OPERATIONS 1: LAUNCH March 21, 1985. The Ares Mission Stack is launched on a Saturn VB. 2: ORBIT The Mission Stack makes rendezvous with the Propulsion Stack and the two dock. 3: VENUS TRANSFER The whole stack will begin the Venus transfer, but before the end of the burn, with two-thirds of fuel expended, the External Tanks will be jettisoned. 4: TRANSIT RECONFIGURATION With the stack on the way to Venus, the Apollo CSM - christened "Discovery" by the Ares crew - is broken out and docked nose-first to the AAMM - christened "Endeavour". 5: VENUS FLYBY september 8, 1985. The stack flies by Venus to receive a slingshot assist. The crew deploy an atmospheric probe to investigate the Venusian atmosphere. 6: MARS TRANSFER Any necessary corrections are made before settling in ...

NASA LUNAR ORBITER Moon Anomalies

New movie I made after viewing 6 gig (450x14mb) size Lunar Orbiter photos. I have 370 of anomalies but limited it to about 75 for this video. I am 100% convinced there is at the very least ruins of structures, mining and equipment. And at the best guess a continued existence of races watching us from their craft (Moon). I believe a huge battles have taken place on this artificial craft which can be seen by the bizarre and odd craters that look 'blown-out' like the glass domes protecting these huge crater cities have been turned to dust. There is so much about the Moon that can not be explained. I am not forcing you to see or believe anything here. This is what I see and think is happening on the Moon. You can download and view all 370 Anomalies here: thepiratebay.org You can download and view these photos in their entirety: ser.sese.asu.edu And if anyone has a link to the same size and quality of the other Lunar Orbiter images - Please post links here so I can view some more. Let's Play Orbiter 2010: Space Flight Simulator

Tomorrow, May 16th 2011, Space Shuttle Endeavour STS-134 is scheduled for its final launch at 8:56am EDT (12:56 UTC). Be sure to watch live at www.nasa.gov or spaceflightnow.com I mentioned Orbiter in an earlier Minecraft video, and figured this, the day before an actual space shuttle launch, would be the best time to try a first impressions let's play of it! Its very difficult to install and get configurated to even start playing, but I do my best to at least show you through a tutorial mission of launching the Space Shuttle. If you'd like to try yourself, you can get Orbiter here: orbit.medphys.ucl.ac.uk I went ahead an synced up my video with that of an actual launch of space shuttle Atlantis. Grand Exploration: New Horizons - Orbiter Space Flight Simulator

New Horizons is a NASA robotic spacecraft mission currently en route to the dwarf planet Pluto. It is expected to be the first spacecraft to fly by and study Pluto and its moons, Charon, Nix, and Hydra. NASA may also approve flybys of one or more other Kuiper belt objects. New Horizons was launched on January 19, 2006, directly into an Earth-and-solar-escape trajectory. It had an Earth-relative velocity of about 16.26 km/s (58536 kmh; 36373 mph) after its last engine shut down. The Centaur second stage reignited at 14.30.00 EST (19.30.00 UTC), successfully sending the probe out of Earth orbit. New Horizons took only nine hours to reach the Moon's orbit, passing lunar orbit before midnight EST that day. It flew by Jupiter on February 28, 2007, and Saturn's orbit on June 8, 2008. It will arrive at Pluto on July 14, 2015. In addition to the scientific equipment, there are several cultural artifacts traveling with the spacecraft. These include a collection of 434738 names stored on a compact disc, a piece of Scaled Composites SpaceShipOne, and an American flag, along with other mementos. One of the trim weights on the spacecraft is a Florida state quarter, and some of the ashes of Pluto discoverer Clyde Tombaugh are aboard the spacecraft. It is planned for New Horizons to fly within 10000 km (6200 mi) of Pluto in 2015. New Horizons will have a relative velocity of 13.78 km/s at closest approach, and will come as close as 27000 km (17000 mi) to Charon, although these ...

Astro Orbiter (HD POV) Magic Kingdom Florida

Check out this On-Ride POV of Astro Orbiter at Magic Kingdom (WDW) Florida. The Astro Orbiter is a rocket-spinner attraction featured at all five Magic Kingdom-style parks at Walt Disney Resorts around the world. Although each ride may have a different name, all share the same premise of rockets spinning around a central monument. As each form of the attraction appeared, new designs and locations have been implemented to fit with changing schemes of several Tomorrowlands. No form of the attraction existed in the Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World until 1974, three years after the park's opening, when Tomorrowland underwent a massive expansion including the creation of Space Mountain, a new location for the Disneyland-attraction, Carousel of Progress, and the WEDWay PeopleMover. Star Jets was considered the focal point of Tomorrowland due to its soaring, spinning rockets and central location. This version of the attraction was based on the Disneyland version, in both location (on top of the PeopleMover platform) and in style (both feature a large Saturn V rocket). However the attraction vehicles were different than any other previous form as they were much larger and featured a flatter back-end and larger tail fins. Each of the 12 open-air vehicles was attached to the central axis by a 20 foot arm. The vehicles held up to two passengers who circled round and round, 80 feet above the ground, while controlling their ascent and descent with a metal control stick. In 1994, the ...

Manned Venus Flyby - Orbiter Space Flight Simulator

-- Originally uploaded on April 5, 2010 -- The most complicated mission that I fly. Complex for the thin margins to maintain the original plan. Me to continue the numbers and me to finish with a ship flying over the planet Venus and returning to the Earth. My sincere admiration for people that 43 years before they calculated this mission and they made few errors. Orbiter Space Flight Simulator not to possess a Saturn-Venus, but the performances of the lunar rocket and the rocket Venus is similar. A manned Venus flyby was considered by NASA in the mid 1960s as part of the Apollo Applications Program, using hardware derived from the Apollo program. Launch would take place on October 31, 1973, with a Venus flyby on March 3, 1974 and return to Earth on December 1, 1974. By means of Saturn V technology, would be sent three men toward the interior of the Solar System in a journey of a year of duration, flyby Venus. The spacecraft, similar in design to that later would be sent to the space like the Skylab space station, it was thought so that the astronauts could travel "comfortably" during so much time, returning home in the same way to as the lunar Apollo. The S-IVB stage would be a 'wet workshop' similar to Skylab, first using the S-IVB engine to launch the mission on course to Venus, and then vented of any remaining fuel to serve as home for the crew for the duration of the mission. The Apollo SM engine would be used for course corrections on the way to Venus and back to ...

Orbiter 2010:Rosetta

Rosetta is a European Space Agency-led robotic spacecraft mission launched in 2004, intended to study the comet 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko. It is intended to orbit the comet and place a lander upon it, in 2014. Rosetta consists of two main elements: the Rosetta space probe and the Philae lander. The spacecraft has already flown by and examined two asteroids on its way to the comet. The probe is named after the Rosetta Stone, as it is hoped the mission will help unlock the secrets of how our solar system looked before planets formed. The lander is named after the Nile island Philae where an obelisk was found that helped decipher the Rosetta Stone. The craft completed its fly-by of asteroid 2867 Šteins in September 2008 and of 21 Lutetia in July 2010[2], and is presently functioning and on-target for its final destination as of late 2010. This is the planned timeline for the mission after its launch: * First Earth flyby (March 4, 2005) * Mars flyby (February 25, 2007) * Second Earth flyby (November 13, 2007 ) * Flyby of asteroid 2867 Šteins (September 5, 2008) (Not shown in video) * Third Earth flyby (November 13, 2009) * Flyby of asteroid 21 Lutetia (July 10, 2010) * Deep-space hibernation (May 2011 - January 2014) * Comet approach (January-May 2014) * Comet mapping / Characterization (August 2014) * Landing on the comet (November 2014) * Escorting the comet around the Sun (November 2014 - December 2015)(Not shown) Rosetta's current location can be found here: www.esa.int

Equinox Graphics presents an update of the Solar Orbiter mission animation, to reflect the updated configuration as it competes with other high profile ESA missions for the final commissioning decision. This mission will send a probe to a proximity never before achieved, to perform a close-up study of our Sun and inner heliosphere - the uncharted innermost regions of our Solar System - to better understand, and even predict, the unruly behaviour of the star on which our lives depend. The spacecraft will be closer to the Sun than any previous spacecraft, and must brave the intense heat it will encounter. More detail at sci.esa.int and www.equinoxgraphics.net

Grand Explorations: Voyager 2 - Orbiter Space Flight Simulator

-- Original uploaded on August 3, 2009 -- The Voyager 2 spacecraft is an unmanned interplanetary space probe launched on August 20, 1977. Identical in form to its sister Voyager program craft Voyager 1, Voyager 2 followed a slower trajectory that allowed it to be kept in the ecliptic (the plane of the Solar System) so that it could be sent to Uranus and Neptune by means of gravity assist during the 1981 encounter at Saturn. Because of this trajectory, Voyager 2 could not see the moon Titan up close as its twin had, but the probe did become the first and only spacecraft to travel to Uranus and Neptune, thus completing the Planetary Grand Tour, a rare geometric arrangement of the outer planets that only occurs once every 176 years. The closest approach to Jupiter occurred on July 9, 1979. It came within 570000 km (350000 miles) of the planet's cloud tops. It discovered a few rings around Jupiter, as well as volcanic activity on the moon Io. The closest approach to Saturn occurred on August 26, 1981. The closest approach to Uranus occurred on January 24, 1986, where it came within 81500 kilometers (50600 miles) of the planet's cloud tops. Voyager 2 discovered 10 previously unknown moons; studied the planet's unique atmosphere, caused by its axial tilt of 97.8°; and examined its ring system. The closest approach to Neptune occurred on August 25, 1989. Since this was the last major planet Voyager 2 could visit, it was decided to make a close flyby of the moon Triton ...

NASA 'DIRECT' is a proposed SDLV (shuttle derived launch vehicle) to replace the space shuttle when it retires in 2011. Although it was favoured by the Ares rockets, the cancellation of the constallation program and the fail of the Ares 1 program, compounded with the new heavy life rocket authorisation bill signed by Obama means the future looks bright, despite the budget cuts. Orbiter 2010:Hubble Space Telescope

The Hubble Space Telescope (HST) is a space telescope that was carried into orbit by a space shuttle in 1990. Although not the first space telescope, Hubble is one of the largest and most versatile, and is well-known as both a vital research tool and a public relations boon for astronomy. The HST was built by the United States space agency NASA, with contributions from the European Space Agency, and is operated by the Space Telescope Science Institute. It is named after the astronomer Edwin Hubble. The HST is one of NASA's Great Observatories, along with the Compton Gamma Ray Observatory, the Chandra X-ray Observatory, and the Spitzer Space Telescope. Space telescopes were proposed as early as 1923. Hubble was funded in the 1970s, with a proposed launch in 1983, but the project was beset by technical delays, budget problems, and the Challenger disaster. When finally launched in 1990, scientists found that the main mirror had been ground incorrectly, severely compromising the telescope's capabilities. However, after a servicing mission in 1993, the telescope was restored to its intended quality. Hubble's orbit outside the distortion of Earth's atmosphere allows it to take extremely sharp images with almost no background light. Hubble's Ultra Deep Field image, for instance, is the most detailed visible-light image ever made of the universe's most distant objects. Many Hubble observations have led to breakthroughs in astrophysics, such as accurately determining the rate of ...

'Final Flight' (Release II) - An Orbiter Film

The year was 2062, the location Mars...the memory will be with him forever. www.vimeo.com This is the second released version of my popular film 'Final Flight'. The storyline is the same, the shots are the same, but I've vastly improved the croping and panning and made some tweeks to the effects.

Viking Program - Orbiter Space Flight Simulator

-- Originally uploaded on June 16, 2010 -- NASA's Viking program consisted of a pair of space probes sent to Mars, Viking 1 and Viking 2. Each vehicle was composed of two main parts, an orbiter designed to photograph the surface of Mars from orbit, and a lander designed to study the planet from the surface. The orbiters also served as communication relays for the landers once they touched down. Viking 1 was the first of two spacecraft sent to Mars as part of NASA's Viking program. It was the first spacecraft to successfully land on Mars and perform its mission,[1] and holds the record for the second longest Mars surface mission of 6 years and 116 days (from landing until surface mission termination, Earth time). Following launch using a Titan/Centaur launch vehicle on August 20, 1975 and a 10-month cruise to Mars, the orbiter began returning global images of Mars about 5 days before orbit insertion. The Viking 1 Orbiter was inserted into Mars orbit on June 19, 1976 and trimmed to a 1513 x 33000 km, 24.66 h site certification orbit on June 21. Landing on Mars was planned for July 4, 1976, the United States Bicentennial, but imaging of the primary landing site showed it was too rough for a safe landing. The landing was delayed until a safer site was found. The lander separated from the orbiter on July 20 08:51 UT and landed at 11:53:06 UT. It was the first attempt by the United States at landing on Mars. Viking 2 was launched on September 9, 1975. Following launch using a ...

Orbiter 2010:Vostok-1

Vostok 1 was the first human spaceflight, part of the Vostok program. The Vostok 3KA spacecraft was launched on April 12, 1961. The flight took Yuri Gagarin, a cosmonaut from the Soviet Union, into space. The flight marked the first time that a human entered outer space, as well as the first orbital flight of a manned vehicle. Vostok 1 was launched by the Soviet space program, and was designed by Soviet rocket scientists guided by Sergey Korolyov under military supervision of Kerim Kerimov and others.
