Obsessives - Urban Farming

Novella Carpenter started small, with some plants in an empty lot next to her house in Oakland. A couple of years later, she was tending to a full-blown farm, with goats, turkeys, ducks, pigs, and a robust garden. This video tackles questions of neighborliness (which is more offensive: police sirens or roosters crowing?), environmental poisons (raised beds are key), and the all-important slaughter question. The answer: Yes, she does (and yes, there is some bloody footage).

The Thing trailer (dir: John Carpenter, 1982)

The Thing is a 1982 science fiction horror film directed by John Carpenter, written by Bill Lancaster, and starring Kurt Russell. The film's title refers to its primary antagonist: a parasitic extraterrestrial lifeform that assimilates other organisms and in turn imitates them. It infiltrates an Antarctic research team, taking the appearance of the researchers that it kills, and paranoia occurs within the group. Ostensibly a remake of the 1951 Howard Hawks-Christian Nyby film The Thing from Another World, Carpenter's film is a more faithful adaptation of the novella Who Goes There? by John W. Campbell, Jr. which inspired the 1951 film.[1] Carpenter considers The Thing to be the first part of his Apocalypse Trilogy,[2] followed by Prince of Darkness and In the Mouth of Madness. Although the films are unrelated, each feature a potentially apocalyptic scenario; should "The Thing" ever reach civilization, it would be only a matter of time before it takes over the Earth. The theatrical performance of the film was poor.[3] The poor opening has been attributed to many factors, including Steven Spielberg's ET the Extra-Terrestrial, which was released at the time and features a more optimistic view of alien visitation. However, The Thing has gone on to gain a cult following with the release on home video. It was subsequently novelized in 1982, adapted into a comic book miniseries published by Dark Horse Comics, and was followed by a video game sequel in 2002, with a movie prequel ...

Original vs Remake: The Thing

It all started with one simple question: Who goes there? This little science fiction novella by John W. Campbell, Jr. became the inspiration for the film The Thing From Another World in 1951, which became a huge success. In 1982 Halloween director John Carpenter made The Thing. It wasn't a big success at first and didn't make a lot of money, but the film is still known as one of the best horrorfilms ever made. 'Original vs Remake' shows the differences and resemblances between the old and the new. And tonight's film is The Thing (from Another World). It's Nyby vs. Carpenter, Tobey vs. Russell. Thing vs. Thing. Episode 7: The Thing Episode 6: Dawn of the Dead Episode 5: Halloween Episode 4: Night of the Living Dead Episode 3: The Ring Episode 2: The Texas Chainsaw Massacre Episode 1: A Nightmare on Elm Street Edited by Jasper ten Hoor (TheSpringwoodSlasher)

Sheryl Lee The Unforgettable Laura Palmer

Sheryl Lee The Unforgettable Laura Palmer © www.shanagrant.com Sheryl Lee (born April 22, 1967) is an American actress. She came to international attention for her performances as Laura Palmer and Maddy Ferguson on the 1990 cult TV series Twin Peaks and in the 1992 film Twin Peaks Fire Walk with Me. She is also known for portraying photographer Astrid Kirchherr in Backbeat and for her role in Vampires, as well as for her television series roles in LA Doctors, Kingpin, One Tree Hill and Dirty Sexy Money. Lee was born in Augsburg, Bavaria, West Germany, the daughter of an artist mother and architect father. She grew up in Boulder, Colorado, United States, where she was a graduate of Fairview High School (class of 1985). Lee is remembered by legions of David Lynch fans for her appearance as the dead Laura Palmer in the cult television series Twin Peaks. When the series was picked up, Lee was also given the part of Laura's cousin Maddy Ferguson later in the series (a role which was reportedly written because Lynch, impressed with her abilities, wanted to give her a fuller role on the show). She also starred in the prequel Twin Peaks: Fire Walk with Me, which elaborated on events leading up to Laura Palmer's death. Other prominent roles have included playing the part of Astrid Kirchherr in the 1994 movie Backbeat, a bio-pic of the early career of The Beatles opposite Stephen Dorff, the part of Liza in Gary Walkow's 1995 adaptation of Fyodor Dostoyevsky's novella Notes from ...

To understand why a vampire visits her every night, a woman must find the truth about her father. In Spanish with English subtitles. This film was shown at 8 international film festivals, including Sitges, Dead by Dawn and Transylvania, and on TV by Cinemax. dhampira.com 10 years ago I wrote, directed and produced a 10-minute Gothic short film about the daughter of a vampire that he seduces every night in apparent erotic dreams. This short film was quite innovative as it was the first time (to my knowledge) that a dhampira was portrayed (it was 1 year before the first BloodRayne game). Gypsy folklore refers to the dhampir, the son of a vampire (also called "mullo") and a woman, but never to its female counterpart. In recent years, such a being has been portrayed in very few other works, including most famously and infamously BloodRayne (the saga of videogames and movies).
