iTunes: bit.ly Beatport: s.beatport.com The 7th release on Chris Coco's MelodicaRecordings label is re-versions of release number one, Chris's own beautiful Electro-Latino song, Holiday, featuring the delightful Samantha Whates on vocals. One of our favourite remixers, the super talented Sare Havlicek, the disco king, has turned in two irresistible versions. His Disco Terrace Mix is pure summer party fun, while, for the hipster Italo disco lovers there's the Adria Mix. Both are set to become staples of the season in Ibiza and Croatia. Chris has gone a little dark for his Holiday House version. This is pure 4am East London basement material. And if you feel like staying at home with the curtains closed there's a tune for you too. South London's finest, Deekie, have made an answer record to the original Holiday song that is touching and funny. There's a single coming from them on the label quite soon too. There are also instrumental versions of Sare's mixes for DJs to extend and expand with. So, there you have it, a must have virtual 12" for your expanding Melodica Recordings collection. When the sun is strong in the southern Hemisphere he's at home in Sydney, as it makes it's way north for the European summer he decamps to Ibiza. Is he living life at double speed? Who knows, but he certainly has a good tan. The Captain used to live in UK but now spends most of his time in his studio in Sydney adding to his vast store of musical and technical knowledge. As this is a MelodicaRecordings release there's an a side and ab side. The a is Believe, a chugging slice of slo mo electronic disco for back rooms, bars and after parties. The b is Sunscape, which kind of does what it says on tin, it's a beautiful Balearic piece, perfect for soundtracking a magic moment on the sunset strip or the ashram or a harbour side warehouse party. 'I Can't Wait' is calculated fun-times, one part pink and fluffy, one part dancefloor deadliness. C-Beam, a duo from East London, definitely know what buttons to press when it comes to reworks and this interpretation of Nu Shooz's 80's anthem is no exception. We've got a great, great brace of remixes to complete the package too. Article 64's '4 AM' mix is deep and warm house. Twilight sessions are afoot with this one; 4.AM veterans rejoice! We're ramped into overdrive next with Stinkahbell's dubstep take on the original, its aggression tamed only by the sparkling vocal snippets. Powerful stuff. Amir Farhoodi Vs Aron bring back the sheen with their classy 4-to-the-floor rework, then we're taken on a trip to finish with Deckskar stepping up to the plate. This is the first release on Chris Coco's new label, Melodica. The a side features Scottish folk artist Samantha Whates doing her best to sound like the ghost of Astrud Gilberto and the clinking of ice in glasses of a rather lovely Italian rosé for inspiration and general good vibes. It's a song about needing to get away, a plea to a lover at the end of a relationship, it's highly personal and extremely universal, like a good alternative pop song should be. The b side captures a one off lounge piano performance by the maestro Sacha Puttnam. The original jam was recorded at Sacha's country studio hideaway in the depths of County Cork in Ireland. The dub was done in Chris's Freedom Street studio in the heart of south London. Both these tracks are from the sessions for the forthcoming album Freedom Street. iTunes: bit.ly Beatport: bit.ly A cover of one of the best songs of 80s band Eurythmics by two contemporary Balearic maestros. No Logo is a special collaboration between Steve Miller, the super producer behind downtempo sensation Afterlife and renowned, versatile DJ and long standing Mambo, Ibiza resident Pete Gooding. Steve: I have always loved the Eurythmics but I had never heard the original until Pete Gooding played it to me and suggested we should cover it. I love the way Annie's lyrics captured the sense of helplessness in the city, the subway sounds like a cattle train thundering along, people packed into tiny flats for extortionate rents, conscious lyrics at their best. Pete: No Logo was born out of my relationship with Steve that started when we were compiling the Mambo CDs. We discovered a mutual love of Balearic orientated music and thats what the project became and encompasses: chill out, electronica, drum and bass, deep house and Latin inspired stuff. Danny Whitehead used to play This City Never Sleeps when he was the Mambo, Ibiza resident with me in 2000. It sounded amazing in ibiza and I had never heard it before so I liked that it wasn't an obvious cover. As well as the Original this package contains two very different remixes from Max Essa and a dub from Melodica label boss Chris Coco. Produced by Crackpot. Mixed at the Crackpot Immobile. Mastered by Joseph Carra at Crystal Mastering. Published by Mushroom Music. P & C 2012 Melodica Recordings

iTunes: bit.ly Two fine slices of Balearic Techno from a mysterious production duo. What do you do when a couple of producers at the top of their game take time out from making pounding dancefloor cuts and indulge themselves with a little Balearic Techno, then make two killer tunes that you want to put out on your fledgling label? Then tell you that their identities must be kept secret at all costs? When the music is as good as this, and the boys are as hype and determined as these two, there's not a lot you can do except respect their wishes, find a suitably random, ambiguous picture, like a dog in a mini mini for example, and get on with releasing the tunes with love and care. As this is the Melodica Recordings we present an A side and a B side for you to enjoy. The A side is a killer called Alone. It will work as well in a cocktail bar in London as it does at a sunset spot in Ibiza (we know we have tried both), and it's bottom is heavy enough to kick in a club too (yes we have tried that too). On the flip you will find the pumpy, side-chained, trigger happy Took My Love, almost as good but slightly more quirky than it's perky compadre on the A side. Together they make a perfect, pared down package, no remixes, no waste, just a great imaginary 12 to add to your virtual collection. 1Blip2. Woof. Beep. Woof. Woof. Written and produced by 1Blip2 at a secret location in central London. Published by Copyright Control. P+C 2012 Melodica Recordings MELOR003

iTunes: bit.ly Beatport: bit.ly A cover of one of the best songs of 80s band Eurythmics by two contemporary Balearic maestros. The B side of the release is Easy, a track taken from the forthcoming No Logo album being released later in 2012. MELOR005 Written by Lennox & Stewart Produced by Steve ...

iTunes: bit.ly Beatport: bit.ly Easy is the B side of the No Logo single This City Never Sleeps. Easy has had major props from legendary Balearic DJ Jose Padilla. He likes the track so much he included it on volume two of his much loved compilation series Cafe Solo. A cover of one of the best songs of 80s band Eurythmics by two contemporary Balearic maestros. iTunes: bit.ly Beatport: bit.ly Blakula is back, more intoxicated, broken-hearted, sad, horny, dazed and confused than ever. Each track tells a tale of doom and gloom, torment and desire, ecstasy and pain, painted with the darkest shade of noir color and the deepest red. As with the first record, Blackula's musical brew is eclectic: seventies' funk, Giallo and horror soundtracks, psychedelia, rock, contemporary classical, the avant-garde, no wave, free jazz & blues. The nocturnal funk of the title track has the groove of a subway train ridin' into the darkness. Glam guitar, violent noise and hysterical brass sections pepper "Hurt Me". "A Darker Shade of Noir" rolls on with its possessed voodoo priestess chants, followed by the melancholic contemporary chamber music piece of "Nights Are So Long". "Beautiful Addiction" is a frantic exercise in eerie shrieks and dark orchestral movements. "Every Eild Eesire" is as dirty as a standing up f**k in a back alley. The minimal voodoo slo-fi beat of "The Weight Of Darkness" is full of trance-like vocals, whispers, flutes and spooky keyboards. "Early Dawn Bites And The Electric Spirits" is a solitary Chet Baker impersonator spitting his soul through a saxophone, before passing out on a curb, lulled by the big city noises. The Giallo funk of "deadlier than love" is a killer groove with keyboards and maniac horns, until the final curtain "Far From The City Lights." It's the end title for this imaginary movie soundtrack, a song of sin ...
