This led us to the creation of a cool hip hop/classical mash-up, but again we could not get permission. Instead of scrapping the great ideas, we used them to create an original tune. You will hear influences and inspiration from other artists. Try and guess them. On the recording, Steven Sharp Nelson laid down over 100 tracks including cello textures never known possible. Every single sound on the video was made using only the instruments shown: piano, cello, mouth percussion and kick drum. We utilized some cool effects on lots of stuff...for example the U2-style delay on Steve's pizzicato at the beginning. The extra string on the electric cellos (the black cello has an extra high string and the white cello has an extra low string) allowed us to cover the full range of the orchestra. The deep bass drum sound is a bump on the body of the cello with a little help from some effects. The shaker sound was created by Steve rubbing rosin on his bow. This is real time, not slowed down, the stalking was actually about 6 minutes, cut down to a bit over 2 minutes. Shaky screen because it was filmed on an iPhone, I just figured out how to stabilize the video, but YouTube says this video has too many Views to save it that way. The had never seen a white men before in their lives and according to them, the white men were "zombies", living dead. Retired police officer Rick Deckard is forced to meet with his old boss, Supervisor Bryant... The fourth scene in the movie "Blade Runner" has all the dark elements from the 1940's and 1950's film-noir era. Even the language is very 1950's detective-like: "you know the score...", "no choice pal" (I think legendary film-noir actor James Cagney would have favored Blade Runner's script). Harrison Ford executes a remarkable "Bogart-like" interpretation of the antihero / burnout, police officer...(pretty much along the lines with "Sam Spade"... that famous character from the film "The Maltese Falcon (1941)". The unpleasant meeting that takes place between these two police officers is far from been "sensually-alluring"...as when Deckard meets Rachel in the following scene: www.youtube.com However, in this particular encounter, we do get a glimpse of the main themes in "Blade Runner's" dystopian society: 1. A perpetual monitoring and control over the human citizens by the Police (Deckard can't quit his job, or he'll become "little people"). 2. A continuous struggle to subdue the evasive Replicants...who just want to become human themselves.
