Ray Manzarek & Robby Krieger at Jim Morrison Grave, Paris 3rd July 2011 (40th anniversary)

Ray Manzarek & Robby Krieger of The Doors visit the grave of Jim Morrison at Père Lachaise, Paris 3rd July 2011 (40th anniversary). It was about 10.20 am, cops suddenly calling for making way. It was the Manzarek-Krieger band visiting the grave. Ray and Robby burnt incense to render homage. You could smell the incense hours later all around the grave. Unfortunately, the video is not the best quality and only a few minutes long. Therefore, just to share and that you can see there were a lot of Doors fans honoring Jim. This ceremony was a very special moment.

LIGHT MY FIRE THE DOORS ROBBY KRIEGER & RAY MANZAREK @ LUPO'S HEARTBREAK HOTEL PROVIDENCE, RI 11-02-2011 Durring the show at somepoint I go to the bathroom and I bump into a guy who says before the show DAVE BROCK was somewher where he had access to him. He asked him if they are going to play NOT TO TOUCH THE EARTH. He told him it was not on the set list. I think this is the same guy asking ROBBY KREIGER to play NOT TO TOUCH THE EARTH. As you see in the video RAY didn't want to. But I got something for that guy. So if you are reading this, I'm going to post something I know your going to like. I agree, NOT TO TOUCH THE EARTH is an awsome song. They way they do it live is also awsome.

"LA Woman" is a song by American rock band The Doors. The song is the title track on their 1971 album LA Woman, the final album with frontman Jim Morrison before his death. In the song's coda, Morrison repeats the phrase Mr. Mojo Risin', which is an anagram of "Jim Morrison". The song was recorded at The Doors Workshop on Santa Monica Boulevard in West Hollywood, Los Angeles, between December 1970 and January 1971. Morrison recorded his vocal part in the bathroom of the makeshift studio due to the room's natural reverb. Marc Benno was a second guitarist on the session, Jerry Scheff played electric bass guitar. "Roadhouse Blues" is a blues-rock song written and recorded by the American rock band The Doors. The song, which appeared on the B-side of "You Make Me Real",was first released as a single from the album Morrison Hotel in March 1970 and peaked at #50 on the US Billboard Hot 100. The song quickly became a concert staple for the group, a live version appearing later on the posthumous album An American Prayer and that same version, which has been called "probably one of the best live performances of any song", again on In Concert and Greatest Hits. Ray Manzarek and Robby Krieger 14."Not to Touch the Earth" (The Doors) @ OC Fair CA 8-5-2011

The song begins, "Not to touch the earth, not to see the sun..." These are subchapters of the 60th chapter of The Golden Bough by James Frazer. The chapter is called "Between Heaven and Earth", with subchapter 1, "Not to Touch the Earth", and subchapter 2, "Not to See the Sun". These subchapters detail taboos against certain people (generally royalty or priests) walking upon the ground or having the sun shine directly upon them. Frazer had noted that these superstitions were recurring throughout many primitive cultures, and appeared to be related to traditions and taboos concerning menarche and the thereby following female initiation rites. Frazer's work was an influence on Morrison, according to the biography No One Here Gets Out Alive. From the album Waiting for the Sun Here is Ray Manzarek and Robby Krieger "Not to Touch the Earth" Live @ OC Fair CA 8-5-2011 with Dave Brock, from the Doors tribute band Wild Child.

Ray Manzarek and Robby Krieger 11."Hyacinth House" (The Doors) @ OC Fair CA 8-5-2011

"Hyacinth House" is a 1971 song by The Doors which appears on their final album with frontman Jim Morrison, LA Woman. The music was written by Ray Manzarek, while Morrison wrote the lyrics while at guitarist Robby Krieger's beach house; though the song's writing credits are additionally credited to Krieger and drummer John Densmore. The lyrics "I see the bathroom is clear / I think that somebody's near / I´m sure that someone is following me" Is a reference to the vocals of the Album being recorded from the bathroom of The Doors Workshop studio for a fuller effect. The use of the term Hyacinth is thought to be Morrison's way of saying he was unhappy. Further, Hyacinthus was a young love of the Greek god Apollo. According to the myth, Apollo accidentally killed him in a discus throwing contest, and Apollo refused to let the boy go to Hades. Thus, from his blood, Apollo created the hyacinth, a plant with a fragrant cluster of flowers. This has been linked to the lyrics that echo the song "The End": "my only friend, The End.". Further, the line, "And I'll say it again, I need a brand new friend, the end" is thought to indicate that Morrison had suicidal thoughts and tendecies. Morrison felt pulled because of his success, and his talent that he didn't have anyone around him that was just allowing him to be what he wanted to be. It is thought that Jim left for Paris because he was unhappy and wanted to escape his rock star lifestyle to pursue poetry. This would link the song ...

Ray Manzarek - The Golden Scarab

This is a fanmade edited videoclip for the song with the same name of this Ray's solo album. I used stuff from other places : some pics, the two black scarab gifs, the "glasses reader" scarab, part of videos of Ray & The Doors, two videos with golden scarabs and the effects from photofunia.com ; the animated & cartoon versions of Ray and "the phsydelic band" were made by me. This is a tribute for this nice man who I was so glad to meet in person. A very simple human beign with his fans, not as many of the rock stars. EDIT ( November 13th, 2008 ) : Jimi Hunter, the drummer of Ray's band "Nite City", helps me sending my e-mails to Ray for asking permissions for make videos with his music. Ray watched this video and wrote to Mr. Hunter: "Jim: Tell him I liked it a lot and he did a very good job! Thanks; Ray Manzarek" Thank you Jimi for the nice person you are helpin' me always to contact Ray ;) This album review was written by AK at amazon dot com: "The Golden Scarab is Ray Manzarek's finest hour as a musician. Shamefully overlooked and vastly underappreciated (word is that it was just too deep for most music label execs)- this is a serious masterpiece that you need to hear. Jazz fusion with the finest percussion you'll find this side of Sergio Mendes. What more can I say? Part Herbie Hancock Headhunters, part Santana Abraxas and 100% Ray Manzarek at the helm. You get total piano driven rockers like "Downbound Train" and incredible jazz numbers like "The Purpose of Existance ...
