Continuing the series of Marvel Comics superheroines presented in the Japanese Bishoujo (pretty girl) style is BLACK WIDOW, the beautiful Russian super-spy and member of the Mighty Avengers. This original design has been specially created by the incomparable illustrator Shunya Yamashita! Fans should be familiar with Yamashita-sensei's style as Japan's leading Bishoujo artist, from his art books, video game work, as well as multiple figural collaborations with Kotobukiya. Deadly and dangerous, Black Widow wears a skin-tight bodysuit that leaves little to the imagination. The shiny black outfit accentuates every curve and the long lines of her legs, which end with stiletto heeled boots. Hugging Natasha Romanoff's waist is a stylish belt adorned with her red hourglass symbol, and on her arms are golden wristbands. As the sexy spy whips around to look behind her with a pistol at the ready, her intricately carved hair floats in the air behind her. Black Widow stands provocatively atop a specially-designed base. Black Widow stands 7 3/5 inches tall (1/8 scale), and features a solid construction of PVC and ABS plastics. Sculpted by Yu Ishii, the super-spy comes packaged in an attention-grabbing window box.

For the remainder of the review, I'll refer to him as Proto Man. Hurray America. Sharing a lot of the same molding shapes from Mega Man, how does he compare? Well...he's certainly epic. Overall, Proto Man is a fantastic kit, and easily my favorite of the three. He doesn't seem to be the loose leg problems I had with Mega Man, and is obviously cooler than Roll, unless you have a thing for little girls. Sure, I'm slightly biased because I love Proto Man so much, but I'm just glad he got a release, and a great one at that. So many epic poses, so little time. My build of Kotobukiya's plastic model kit of the white ship from the videogame Ikaruga. Tools used in construction were: Side cutters Scalpel Fine sand paper Selection of good quality brushes Polystyrene glue Tweezers Tamiya weatherine master RUST Revell aqua colour mix Tamiya thinners Revell decal soft All the paints I used in construction, all acrylic based: Tamiya fine surface primer white (spray can) Revell aluminuim 99 Revell tank grey 78 Tamiya metallic blue X-13 Tamiya bronze X-33 Tamiya titanium gold X-31 Tamiya gold leaf X-12 Tamiya metallic grey XF-56 Vallejo field blue Vallejo azure Mixture of water + silk black paint, referred to as "dirty water" during build Pros: Quality of kit is supurb and builds very well, even putting many large name kit manufactures to shame with its logical sprue join points. Amount of seperate parts really improve an already impressive kit. Moveable parts on model. Addition of a moveable display stand. Nice manual with colour pictures and some infomation about the game and ship (however in Japanese) Cons: Manual fails to call out painting instructions during build, instead leaving you to study photos of the model to accurately paint it. Left and right engine pods are built seperately in manual, if following the manual you will have one side of the ship built before you even start on the other side. Idealy when building just build all the parts as couples which makes the finish on the parts consistent. Decals are poor quality with <b>...</b>

Check out a written review here: shukuenshinobi.wordpress.com Let me say this to start. I love Mega Man. I didn't ALWAYS love Mega Man. As a child I found the games difficult, so I didn't particularly find them fun. Once I developed a brain larger than a walnut, I found out that they can be quiet fun, and fell in love with the franchise. Except ZX, and the Battle Network "line" bored me after time too. But the classic Blue Bomber is where it's at. The X games might be more "challenging" but the classics are easily my favorites. It's been a while since Rockman as he is known in Japan has had a really good toyline, but finally Kotobukiya has come to the rescue. Kotobukiya is famous for their model kits, and they finally decided to bless Rock with a line of his own. First up is of course, the Blue Bomber himself. Overall, the first Rockman release is incredible. He was quite easy and fun to build, and the poseability is just fantastic for a model. I have some problems with limbs coming out, and his head popping off, but outside of that, the detail and articulation is perfect. To me, this is the definitive Mega Man/Rockman figure to get. If you're a fan, I see no reason to skip this up. Roll is the next release in December, followed by Proto Man/Blues in January. Stay tuned for those!
