It's been a while since I've done a solo video, and a lot of you have been asking for some classic rock and stuff. I thought I'd try to cover a lot of your requests in a compilation video of my 25 best guitar riffs (in no particular order!). I wanna note a couple of things for anyone who's reading this.. So this is my list of the 25 best guitar riffs. Don't hesitate to let me know what I may have missed. By best, I don't mean most difficult or anything like that; I mean the 25 most recognizable guitar licks that I could think of. Everything is recorded live, and I'm not playing over any of the original tracks. I use backing tracks that I've found in various places on the Internet. I do all of the guitar playing you hear, even if you don't see the video. Oh, except for the second guitar in The Trooper, and the rhythm guitar in Thunderstruck. Those came with the backing tracks :) The sound is recorded into Garageband, the video is recorded into iMovie, and then I sync them later. Here Comes the Sun Cover Here Comes the Sun Guitar Cover Here Comes the Sun The Beatles George Harrison This is me playing an acoustic guitar cover of Here Comes the Sun by The Beatles. The song was written by George Harrison and is on the album Abbey Road. Anyway, it's a beautiful tune, so I decided to try my hand at it. Fritz makes a cameo during the beginning of the video! Enjoy! Proof that he is, in fact, still alive. About the sound.. I edit sound using Garageband. In some sections I doubled the track to make it louder/fuller. I also added a tad bit of reverb. I use the Blue SnowBall USB Mic. You can hear that it's pretty much awesome at picking up the acoustics. And it's like 5 feet away from me too. Sounds better right in front of the sound hole, but I didn't have anywhere to put it! It may be a smudge out of sync, I'm not sure. Like in most of my videos, the sound is recorded by the mic into Garageband, while the camera records the video into iMovie. I use iMovie to put the two together. Sometimes it's a little out of sync. Oh, by the way.. MERRY CHRISTMAS! I stayed up kind of late doing this one, into the wee hours of Christmas! I hope your holiday season has been wonderful. Beat It Solo Tutorial Eddie Eddy Van Halen Michael Jackson Guitar Lesson HERE IS MY ORIGINAL BEAT IT SOLO COVER VIDEO: www.youtube.com Hey everyone. Sorry, this tutorial isnt very in depth. I had to cut out so much of it in order to fit YouTubes 10-minute limit (hence the frequent cuts). It began as a 20 minute tutorial. Ive never posted a lesson video before, and I did most of the sections in one take. I know I had trouble finding some words that I was searching for, so I'm sorry! I hope you can understand what I'm trying to say. I know there are other awesome tutorial videos out there, so like I said, this is a video that kind of fills in the gaps between those videos. It focuses heavily on tap harmonics and the tricky second tapping section. It is geared towards players with an advanced technique and skill level. Much of this will test your ear strength, as I don't entirely explain what notes to play. Don't forget to rewind the video and watch the tricky parts over and over again! Cowboy Casanova Carrie Underwood Cover This is a guitar cover of Carrie Underwood's new song Cowboy Casanova. I heard this song a few days ago, and couldn't get it out of my head. Carrie Underwood is a phenomenal and beautiful singer. Yeah, and stay tuned until 3:47 to watch me break my house. There wasn't a lot of room to rock this song out, so I just spiced up some of the chord figures, added a quick solo, and replaced the fiddle fills with electric guitar licks. The solo is improvised and comes after the first chorus. Also, I learned this by ear, so sorry, but I don't have tabs. As always, I added the audio and video tracks together and some parts of the video are, thus, a little bit out of sync. This is also worth noting.. On some parts there are 3 guitars. iMovie 09 (the video editor I use) only allows for one split screen, so I could only show two guitars at a time. You may hear an extra harmony here or there, but may not see the video of me playing it. Oh yeah, and as you can tell, the coloring and lighting was weird, so I tried to close the shade to my back door. Yeah.. Bad idea. Stick around until the end to see why hahahh. John Mayer is totally phenomenal, and this song moves me every time I hear it. It's his single from a couple years ago or something and was in the movie The Bucket List. I recorded all of the guitar parts (at most points there are 3), and Taylor and Maddie did all of the vocals (at some points, 4). John Mayer Cover Who Says Cover Heart of Life Cover Stop This Train Cover Comfortable Cover Alright, so John Mayer's definitely my favorite artist right now. He's so incredibly capable of writing these bone chilling melodies and piercing lyrics. I definitely think he's the most under-rated musician of our time. Anyways, I was fooling around on the guitar today and just put a few John Mayer songs together into a cover. This is my cover of a guitar medley of John Mayer songs. I did a Who Says Cover, Heart of Life Cover, Stop This Train Cover, and Comfortable Cover. The first time I heard "Who Says," I couldn't help but notice the rhythmic resemblance between it and Stop This Train. The guitar technique and lugging drum beat give them a similar sound. I had to change the key of Heart of Life and Comfortable to make it fit. This is pretty much just me jamming to some JMay songs.. I did it in one take, and I know it's not as neat as it should be. John Mayer's album, Battle Studies, comes out on November 17th, but John released a preview of his single "Who Says" a few weeks ago. There's been a lot of controversy about this song.
