KCRA was on the air 24 hours a day, with a straight feed of the CNN Headline News channel filling out the later hours, except for Sunday nights when they'd sign off with this at 12:30 AM. By 1987 they finally put in Headline News Sunday nights as well and were full 24-hours. This includes one of two versions I've seen of the "High Flight" poem with Air Force footage, followed by "Bluebird Of Happiness" which might have looked a lot nicer if the film they used wasn't so grainy and dirty. The tape this was recorded on ran out right at the end of the sign-off, so you don't get to see what happened afterwards- most of the time the screen would go white, with the station logo at the bottom and the signal would stay on with silence til sign-on time. Since 2000 KCRA has stuck its logo on the screen during all non-NBC programming, so essentially they are just a big test pattern now, at least til June '09 when the analog station finally goes off the air. This is recorded from a stereo broadcast; it was common at the time for stations to run all mono material through a fake stereo processor, often with annoying results. **UPDATE! It seems that YouTube is now playing this clip in STEREO, at least if you have your preferences set to default to High Quality! If you have the ability to play just the left and the right channels separately, switch back and forth and try to hear how the station's "stereo processor" worked! This was recorded on August 2nd, 2010 at 5:53 AM PST (With my webcam to my Vizio HDTV as I do not have a Digital Cable/HDTV box in my room yet). The surprise here is it closed without any goodbye, and More TV only started with ads (VERY uneventful). The show that kicked the channel off was "My Wife And Kids".

He thought I was a parking ticket scofflaw until I told him the whole story. Read my email: Subject: Parking Ticket Scofflaw OR Victim of City Mismanagement? KCRA Reports Hi Mike, I spoke to my mother about our hallway interview tonight. She let me know about her friend on Markham Way who was interviewed by KCRA. Though both parties of a neighborhood argument were interviewed, the reporter aired allegations by one neighbor, and only partial segments of what moms accused friend rebutted. The story was about two neighbors arguing over noise. To make a long story short, KCRA made this noisy friend out to be a real jerk when, in fact, he is a great guy. They now hold a party every year at the house on Markham to commemorate the incident and watch the tape of the interview and laugh. My point is that I don't want you to edit the interview of me in a way that portrays me only as a scofflaw. People deserve to know the real news that you stumbled upon today. The gist of which is that the tenants of my building and I were not taken into consideration in the environmental impact study done for the un-staged Sutter construction projects surrounding our building on three sides which began in 2006. When Bob Wilkins moved his show to channel 40 in 1970, channel 3 continued to show films in his time slot without a host. About a year later, when they realized their ratings were in the toilet, they called Bob and asked him if he knew anyone they could get to host. Bob recommended his friend Geoff Wong. They had the novel idea of having a Chinese-American hosting (and making fun of) Charlie Chan movies. The hot blond in the bikini is Sandy Heard, "Miss Wrestling" from Big Time Wrestling.
