And I opened this new account gewerh44. At that time I was working on this song, preparing the video to upload it. It was such a downer when I saw my original account erased with all of my videos. But it was so awesome to see how many people supported me in such a terrible situation (any other youtuber would agree this kind of things hurt like hell). Anyways, just wanted to say this cover was my first new cover in my new account. Hence that intro part in this video changing channels from 43 to 44, and that "thank you all for your support" at the end of my video. And again, thank you all! ---------------------------------------- This is my guitar cover of this amazing song by Carlos Santana feat. Mana, this song was included on Supernatural (1999) album by Santana. Just in case you didnt know, Carlos Santana is the best mexican guitarist ever. This song was a great hit when the radio started to play it on the '99. In Mexico, for months, we could all hear it everywhere you go. I added some licks during the chorus 1 and chorus 2, because there is no guitar during that time, but everything else is played in the original song. I hope you like my cover of the guitar parts! For TABS and BACKING TRACKS, check out: gewerh44.blogspot.com This is my cover to Stairway To Heaven, a mythic song from Led Zeppelin's album with no name, often called Led Zeppelin IV or ZoSo album (released on 1971). Six years ago, I decided to learn guitar when I listened to this song being played by a friend. Stairway To Heaven gave a twist to my mind and changed my life forever. This is my humble tribute to this amazing song. I didnt cover the 8 minutes of the original song. My cover lasts 5 minutes and a half, I omitted some of the verses because the guitars repeats the same over and over. This cover took me 3 months to get it done, only cuz I wanted to take my time to record each guitar part, to find the right tone for each one of them, etc. I couldve made this cover in a week, but the result wouldnt have been the same. I know Jimmy Page used a Telecaster to record the guitar solo, but I dont have one and I dont have a single pickup guitar, so I used my Gibson Les Paul Custom, I think it gives a different but pleasant feel to the solo. I used a FREE BACKING TRACK that contains Drums and Bass, and I played all of the Guitar parts. I think this is one of the best songs by Led Zeppelin, and its for sure the most complex song by this band. I personally think that this song is way too underrated, its as epic as Stairway to Heaven, and it also features more work and creativity on all instruments. Maybe this song had "bad luck" cuz it was realeased in an album where not all of the songs were as epic and amazing as Achilles. On another circumstances, Achilles Last Stand could be considered as the best and most famous Led Zeppelin song. Its guitar solo is very interesting, there are 2 parts where the tempo changes, and the solo re-takes the normal tempo again. This solo is FULL of feeling, and I did my best to cover that crucial detail. I released this cover 9 months ago. I was kinda excited about publishing it so I didnt put much attention to the tone of the guitars or the final equalization. Rocket Queen is easily in my top 3 favourite GnR songs. I had to give it another try so I could stop regreting the things I omitted. This is the new cover improved only in VIDEO EDITING and EQUALIZATION (Better balanced volume levels, more "low-middle" and "high-middle" to the guitars). I took advantage of the 16 size and changed the visual placing of the guitars as the song advances so its easier to understand how the guitars interact in the song. Everything else is the same as in my first video. You may check out my first video ("Rocket Queen - Cover"), and notice the considerable difference in audio. Dedicated to my rocket queen... There are no backing tracks about this song on the internet, so I had to improvise some sort of backing track. First, I'd like to say I'm very proud to present this video to you. I feel so lucky to be in this video working side by side with amazing musicians. Also, it's a breath of fresh air for me to publish a very professional video, it's made under a very different perspective than my usual video editing, and it certainly looks better than some videoclips of famous artists, thanks to JC (Scream4vengeance) of course!!! The idea of working on this song started on november 2008, but there were several things that delayed the making of the video. I had an old cover of this song, but youtube erased it because of copyright issues. Anyways, its an oportunity to make a better version. This is the new cover, and I used a FREE backing track (you may find it at www.guitarbackingtrack.com) The original song has 2 different guitars playing exactly the same rhythm notes and they dont play during the little 4 solos, one guitar is on the right channel and the other on the left channel of the audio. The little 4 solos during the 1st minute of the song were recorded by separated on 2 guitars too, same positions. This kind of mixing gave an interesting sound to the original track on the Led Zeppelin II (1969). Talking about my cover, I made my arrangement to play the song on a single guitar, cuz this song is a must for every rock guitarist, and its very cool to learn the song just for one guitar. This arrangement makes me skip 2 notes from the rhythm while I travel along the neck every time that a little solo must be played, theres no other way to play the song on a single guitar, after all this is the way Jimmy Page played it on live performances, he had to skip those 2 notes of the rhythm. Its not an easy song to cover, it has a lot of details, I had to practice it again note for note to get ready for this new cover. This is my favourite song ever. Since Ive Been Loving You was included in Led Zeppelin 3 (1970). And it contains one of the best guitar solos. The feeling that jimmy page put into this solo is just impossible to copy. When the band was recording this song, its interesting that Jimmy Page just couldnt find the right tone for this solo, and he was so frustrated trying different amps and settings, and nothing would make him happy. At the end, he saw an unpplugged and forgotten amp in the studio... He played one of the best solos ever using that dusty amp (too bad he didnt say what amp was that). The vocals are the best part of the song, but, hey, Brian did a wonderful job on the guitars too! I used a Backing Track that contains drums, bass and piano. I just took care of the guitars. The Stratocasters play note for note the guitars from the original song. The Les Paul inclusion was just something I couldnt help, I desperately wanted to play a guitar solo here (I based my solo on that from the 2001's Robbie Williams cover). ----------------- Regarding the gear... For the rhythm strats I used a Line 6 POD HD 300 multieffects pedal, used the Vox AC30 amp emulation. I was having fun and decided to give it a try to this classic song. I used a backing track that contains the drums, bass and some licks on guitar. As you may know, the original song has a lot of arrangements on other guitars that complement the lead guitar's playing. So the backing track that I used is great cuz it contains those licks, and its great to play along with. I heard this song for the first time when my friend Jun626 uploaded a cover years ago. I was so amazed about the song and also about jun's playing. I remember I thought "man, wish I could play like that". Very cool memories... "It's a lot easier to appreciate Jeff Beck if you're a guitar player. He just has such natural control over the instrument. "Alive" was this band's first single, and appeared on the band's debut album, Ten (1991). Although the album's follow-up singles would be more successful, "Alive" was nevertheless important cuz it brought the attention to the band. This song grew on me since I listened to it for the 1st time. The solo shocked me too, it was just awesome. Its a technically easy tune, but as my friend Dave says "Sometimes it's the simplest songs that feel the best". Virtual Band cover of this song... coming soon. Its one of the first songs I learnt when I started playing guitar, so my playing of this song has been evolving since then, Ive put in some parts that Page played in live performances and some parts that I came up with.
