Robin Gibb of the Bee Gees dead at 62

entertainmenthookup.com We've lost some great artists so far in 2012. It's really sad that we had to lose another one such as Robin Gibb. You will be greatly missed. Robin Gibb, one of three brothers who made up the disco group the Bee Gees behind "Saturday Night Fever" and other now-iconic sounds from the 1970s, died on Sunday, according to a statement on his website. He was 62. Gibb "passed away today following his long battle with cancer and intestinal surgery," said the statement, which was attributed to his family. He died in England at 10 am (5:47 am ET), according to a post on his official Twitter feed. News of his death set off a torrent of reaction in social media. Musician Bryan Adams, for instance, lamented "another great singer dying too young" on Twitter, while fellow British band Duran Duran and current pop sensation Bruno Mars were among many who posted their condolences. "The Bee Gees were/are the gold standard when it comes to pop/r&b melody, harmony and vocal arrangement. Massive loss," wrote prolific pop songwriter Claude Kelly on his Twitter feed. Diagnosed with colon and liver cancer, Gibb had been in a coma as he battled pneumonia earlier this spring, representative Doug Wright said. Doctors believe that Gibb had a secondary tumor, Wright said April 14, confirming a news account in the UK newspaper The Sun. Gibb had emergency surgery in 2010 for a blocked bowel and then had more surgery for a twisted bowel, Wright confirmed. The only surviving member <b>...</b>

I started a joke, which started the whole world crying, but I didn't see that the joke was on me, oh no. I started to cry, which started the whole world laughing, oh, if I'd only seen that the joke was on me. I looked at the skies, running my hands over my eyes, and I fell out of bed, hurting my head from things that I'd said. Til I finally died, which started the whole world living, oh, if I'd only seen that the joke was on me. I looked at the skies, running my hands over my eyes, and I fell out of bed, hurting my head from things that I'd said. Bee Gees - How Can You Mend A Broken Heart (1996)

"How Can You Mend A Broken Heart" I can think of younger days when living for my life Was everything a man could want to do. I could never see tomorrow,I was never told about the sorrow. And how can you mend a broken heart? How can you stop the rain from falling down? How can you stop the sun from shining? What makes the world go round? How can you mend this broken man? How can a loser ever win? Please help me mend my broken heart and let me live again. I can still feel the breeze that rustles through the trees And misty memories of days gone by We could never see tomorrow, noone said a word about the sorrow. And how can you mend a broken heart? How can you stop the rain from falling down? How can you stop the sun from shining? What makes the world go round? How can you mend this broken man? How can a loser ever win? Please help me mend my broken heart and let me live again.

Robin Gibb RIP - The Bee Gees - Massachusetts - Robin, Barry & Maurice - (Live on TOTP 1967)judep22

Robin Gibb, one of the three fantastically talented Gibb brothers who made up the Bee Gees, today passed away after a long battle with cancer aged just 62.. Robin, along with his brother Maurice, who died in 2003 and elder brother Barry together made up probably one of the most successful singer song-writer groups of all time. It has been estimated that the Bee Gees' career record sales total more than 220 million, making them one of the best-selling music artists of all time. They were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1997His music will be greatly missed. Although the Bee Gees achieved their greatest fame with "Stayin' Alive," "How Deep Is Your Love" and other disco hits on 1977's "Saturday Night Fever" soundtrack, the trio's pop-songwriting instincts and distinctive high harmonies led to many No. 1 hits over five decades. Asked in 2010 for his greatest achievement, Gibb told The Guardian: "Having the most successful catalog of songs in the world, alongside Lennon and McCartney." The band of Gibb brothers was famed for the influential 1977 "Saturday Night Fever" soundtrack that became one of the fastest-selling albums of all time with its innovative fusion of harmony and pulsing dance floor rhythms. Although best known for their disco hits of the 1970s, which included Stayin' Alive, Night Fever and Jive Talkin', they enjoyed success in every decade from the 1960s to the 2000s. Robin also charted intermittently as a solo artist. He released six solo albums <b>...</b>

Robin Gibb (BEE GEES)~Don't Cry Alone (feat. RJ Gibb) (Titanic Requiem)

If your heart is breaking I'm yours whatever. I will not forsake you ever, don't cry alone. Through the autumn rainfalls I'll be your shoulder; If the winds of love grow colder, don't cry alone. Surely as the sun sets new suns are rising. As winter herald's spring's horizon, don't cry alone. Don't you ever doubt me you lead I will follow. Sweep away all pain and sorrow, don't cry alone. No, don't cry alone. No, don't you ever doubt me; I'll be there for you forever. Don't you ever cry I'll sweep away your tears and sorrow and I'll be with you close tomorrow. I'll be with you don't cry..alone. I'm yours. Don't cry alone.

Robin Gibb Dead (Bee Gees Member) RIP

Robin Gibb RIP :( Part of yahoo.com story: full story here: yhoo.it Bee Gees had the key hits on the Saturday Night Fever soundtrack, which topped The Billboard 200 album chart for 24 weeks in 1978. It's one of only seven albums since 1955 to log 24 or more weeks at #1. It's the longest-running #1 album by artists who were born in England. (Adele's 21, which has been #1 for 23 weeks, is second in that regard.) In an eerie coincidence, last week's episode of Glee was a tribute to the album. It was the series' second episode-length tribute to a classic album, following its salute to Fleetwood Mac's Rumours which aired in May 2011. At their peak in 1978, Bee Gees were virtually as hot and inescapable as any act of the rock era. That includes Elvis Presley in 1956, the Beatles in 1964 and Michael Jackson in 1983-1984. For two weeks in February and March 1978, the trio had three hits in the top 10 simultaneously: "How Deep Is Your Love," "Stayin' Alive" and "Night Fever." In addition to those monster hits, Barry and Robin had a co-writing credit on a fourth song in the top 10 (Samantha Sang's creampuff ballad "Emotion") and Barry had co-writing credit on a fifth (Andy Gibb's "(Love Is) Thicker Than Water.") Bee Gees (there's no "the" in their name, just as there's no "the" in Eagles or Carpenters) had 15 top 10 hits, which puts them in a three-way tie for the most top 10 hits by a family group since 1955. Rest in Peace Mr. Robin Gibb "How Deep Is Your Love" is a pop song written and recorded by the Bee Gees in 1977 and released as a single in September. Originally intended for Yvonne Elliman, it was ultimately used as part of the soundtrack to the film Saturday Night Fever. It was a number three hit in the United Kingdom and Australia. In the United States, it topped the Billboard Hot 100 on 24 December 1977 (becoming the first of six consecutive US number-one hits) and stayed in the Top 10 for a then-record 17 weeks. The single spent six weeks atop the US adult contemporary chart. It is listed at # 20 on Billboard's All Time Top 100.[1] Alongside "Stayin' Alive", it is one of the group's two tracks on the list. The song was covered by Take That for their 1996 Greatest Hits album, reaching number-one on the UK Singles Chart for three weeks. The song was ranked #366 on Rolling Stone's list of the 500 Greatest Songs of All Time. In a British TV special shown in December 2011, it was voted "The Nation's Favourite Bee Gees Song" by ITV viewers.

Stayin' Alive - The Bee Gees (1977)

"Stayin' Alive" was a song by the pop group The Bee Gees from the "Saturday Night Fever" motion picture soundtrack. The song was written by The Bee Gees (Barry, Robin and Maurice Gibb) and produced by The Bee Gees, Albhy Galuten and Karl Richardson. It was released on December 13, 1977, as the second single from the "Saturday Night Fever" soundtrack. Upon its release, "Stayin' Alive" climbed the charts to hit the number one spot on the Billboard Hot 100 the week of February 4, 1978, remaining there for four weeks. In the process, it became one of the band's most recognizable tunes, in part because of its place in the beginning sequence of "Saturday Night Fever". The executive producer of the soundtrack, Robert Stigwood (who was also The Bee Gees' manager) called them up and asked them to write a few songs for a soundtrack to a film he was planning. At this point, the film was in the early stages and it did not have a title yet. In fact, all Stigwood had to go on was a "New York" magazine cover story about discomania. They wrote "Stayin' Alive" over the course of a few days while sprawled on the staircase at the Château d'Hérouville studio in Paris. A majority of the soundtrack was recorded in France for tax reasons. Recording "Stayin' Alive" was not simple. To start with, the drumming is literally a tape loop. Due to the death of drummer Dennis Byron's mother in the middle of the song's sessions, the group first looked for a replacement. The shortage of qualified drummers <b>...</b>

Bee Gees Singer Robin Gibb Dead

Robin Gibb, singer with the legendary band the Bee Gees, was in a coma in hospital Sunday after contracting pneumonia in his battle against cancer. "Sadly the reports are true that Robin has contracted pneumonia and is in a coma. We are all hoping and praying that he will pull through," said a brief statement on RobinGibb.com. Media reported Sunday that the 62-year-old was at a private hospital in Chelsea, where wife Dwina, his three children and brother Barry -- also of the group -- were keeping a bedside vigil. Gibb, part of one of the biggest-selling groups of all time, had bowel surgery 18 months ago for an unrelated condition but a tumour was found and he was diagnosed with cancer of the colon and the liver. Back in February, Gibb said he had made a "spectacular" recovery from his treatment, sparking hopes that his cancer was in remission, but he has since experienced a sharp deterioration.

UPDATE: LONDON (AP) -- Robin Gibb's spokesman says the Bee Gees star has woken from a coma and is showing signs of recovery. The 62-year-old singer fell into a coma last week after contracting pneumonia. Doug Wright on Saturday said that Gibb had been able to nod and communicate with his family members, who have surrounded his bedside for almost his entire stay in a central London hospital. Gibb was hospitalized last year for stomach and colon problems. He has not specified the exact nature of his illness -- widely reported to be cancer -- but told the BBC he had a growth on his colon that was removed.

Singer Robin Gibb, Bee Gees Co-Founder, Dies at 62

Robin Gibb, one-third of the Bee Gees, died Sunday after a long battle with cancer, his spokesperson has confirmed via a statement. Gibb was 62 years old. "The family of Robin Gibb, of the Bee Gees, announce with great sadness that Robin passed away today following his long battle with cancer and intestinal surgery," reads the statement. "The family have asked that their privacy is respected at this very difficult time." Two years ago, Gibb battled colon and liver cancer, but despite making what he called a "spectacular recovery," a secondary tumor recently developed, complicated by a case of pneumonia in April. The singer was hospitalized last month and fell into a coma at one point, although he was later said to have regained consciousness and communicated with family members. Gibb was born in the Isle of Man in 1949, along with twin brother Maurice. (Maurice died in 2003 of complications from a twisted intestine; eerily, Robin had surgery for the same medical issue in 2010.) Along with their older brother Barry, the brothers began harmonizing as a trio in Australia, where the family moved in 1958. Although the Bee Gees had some success in Australia -- they hosted a weekly variety show there -- they didn't truly arrive until they returned to England and signed with manager Robert Stigwood. Robin's quivering, vulnerable voice was featured prominently on several of the group's earliest and most Beatles-eque hits, including "New York Mining Disaster 1941," "I Started a <b>...</b>

Bee Gees singer Robin Gibb dies aged 62 , 20/05/2012

Bee Gees singer Robin Gibb has passed away today aged 62. The musician died after undergoing intestinal surgery and due to his long battle with cancer. 'The family of Robin Gibb, of the Bee Gees, announce with great sadness that Robin passed away today following his long battle with cancer and intestinal surgery. The family have asked that their privacy is respected at this very difficult time,' family spokesman Doug Wright said. The father-of-three had been battling colon and liver cancer. Fears for the star's health were first raised last year when he appeared looking gaunt on a TV show to promote his single for Poppy Day. But Mr Gibb tried to allay any rumours about his health after admitting he had cancer -- but claiming he had beaten it, saying doctors had told him: 'It's gone, they've told me they can't see it no more, I've done it.' Following a relapse last month, his wife Dwina, 59, spoke of her joy after the singer woke from a 12-day coma despite being given just a 10 per cent chance of survival by doctors. She had been told to start making plans for the musician's passing as he slumped into a coma after contracting pneumonia. But Mr Gibb defied the odds and regained consciousness as music from his Titanic Requiem played. Mrs Gibb and her family had held a constant bedside vigil for the star - and had been playing his favourite music to try and rouse him. And she revealed that he cried when she played him Roy Orbison's 1962 song Crying. She said: 'We played music <b>...</b>

BEE GEES ~ MORE THAN A WOMAN ~

BEE GEES ~ MORE THAN A WOMAN ~.A VIDEO DEDICATED TO Tbirdtrisa...(TRISA),,,here is your favorite song,,,thanks for being a wonderful friend!,,,,sorry ,,i misspelled.the word woman in the beginning of this video,, Oh, girl I've known you very well I've seen you growing everyday I never really looked before but now you take my breath away. Suddenly you're in my life part of everything I do you got me working day and night just trying to keep a hold on you. Here in your arms I found my paradise my only chance for happiness and if I lose you now I think I would die. Oh say you'll always be my baby we can make it shine, we can take forever just a minute at a time. More than a woman, more than a woman to me more than a woman, more than a woman to me more than a woman, oh, oh, oh. There are stories old and true of people so in love like you and me and I can see myself let history repeat itself. Reflecting how I feel for you thinking about those people then I know that in a thousand years I'd fall in love with you again. This is the only way that we should fly this is the only way to go and if I lose you I know I would die. Oh say you'll always be my baby we can make it shine, we can take forever just a minute at a time. More than a woman, more than a woman to me more than a woman, more than a woman to me more than a woman, oh, oh, oh.

Bee Gees - I STARTED A JOKE (lyrics on screen)

The Bee Gees are a musical group which originally comprised three brothers: Barry, Robin, and Maurice Gibb. The trio were successful for most of their 40-plus years of recording music, but they had two distinct periods of exceptional success: as a pop act in the late 1960s and early 1970s and as prominent performers of the disco music era in the late 1970s. The group sang three-part tight harmonies that were instantly recognisable; Robin's clear vibrato lead was a hallmark of their earlier hits, while Barry's R&B falsetto became their signature sound during the late 1970s and 1980s. The brothers co-wrote all of their own hits, as well as writing and producing several major hits for other artists. Born in the Isle of Man to English parents, the Gibb brothers lived their first few years in Chorlton, Manchester, England, then moved in the late 1950s to Redcliffe, Queensland, Australia, where they began their musical careers. After achieving their first chart success in Australia with "Spicks and Specks" (their 12th single), they returned to the United Kingdom in January 1967 where producer Robert Stigwood began promoting them to a worldwide audience. It has been estimated that the Bee Gees' career record sales total more than 220 million, making them one of the best-selling music artists of all time. They were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1997; the presenter of the award to "Britain's first family of harmony" was Brian Wilson, historical leader of the <b>...</b>

Bee Gees - To Love Somebody (2001)

"To Love Somebody" There's a light A certain kind of light That never shone on me I want my life to be lived with you Lived with you There's a way everybody say To do each and every little thing But what does it bring If I ain't got you, ain't got faith? You don't know what it's like, baby You don't know what it's like To love somebody To love somebody The way I love you In my brain I see your face again I know my frame of mind You ain't got to be so blind And I'm blind, so, so, so very blind I'm a man, can't you see What I am I live and I breathe for you But what good does it do If I ain't got you, ain't got faith?

Massachusetts Bee Gees Robin Gibb RIP Acoustic Cover w/ 12-String

(c)1967 Words & Music Barry - Robin - Maurice Gibb ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Rest in Peace, Robin. Thank you for the music! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Feel I´m going back to Massachusetts Something´s telling me I must go home And the lights all went out in Massachusetts The day I left standing on her own. Try to hitch a ride to San Francisco Gotta do the things I wanna do And the lights all went out in Massachusetts They brought me back to see my way with you. Talk about the life in Massachusetts Speak about the people I have seen And the lights all went out in Massachusetts And Massachusetts is one place I have seen Remember Massachusetts ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Dropped D tuning, Capoed II, sounds in E ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ When Barry, Robin and Maurice Gibb wrote this song, it was originally intended to be recorded by The Seekers, but they did not record it. The Seekers finally recorded it after Maurice Gibb's death in 2003, as a tribute to him. When the Bee Gees wrote the song, they had never been to Massachusetts. The group simply loved the word. The song was written on a boat near the Statue of Liberty. For Maurice Gibb, the song had a painful memory attached. Shortly after it was recorded, Beatles manager Brian Epstein told him that it was beautiful and would be the hit of the summer. These proved to be Epstein's last words to Maurice; Epstein died a few days later.

RIP Robin Gibb! - Bee Gees "I've Gotta Get a Message To You" (1968 Single Mix)

"I've Gotta Get a Message to You" is a song recorded by the Bee Gees in 1968, which became their second number-one single on the UK Singles Chart, and reached number eight on the US pop chart. In the United Kingdom the song was released as a single only. "I've Gotta Get a Message to You" has appeared in five versions all made from the same recording, but heard at three different speeds, faded out at three different points, and with different elements mixed forward. As to the speed, Bill Inglot said in 1999 that the mix he made for the Tales from the Brothers Gibb box in 1990 is at the correct real tape speed. This speed is intermediate between the mono and stereo mixes released in 1968. To correct the speed, play the mono single mix at 98.8% and the LP stereo mix at 103.0%, which brings them to the correct timing. The first mix to appear was the mono mix for the single, followed closely by a stereo mix that appeared on North American copies of the Idea album. The two sound very different. For most of the song the album mix has percussion effects and string overdubs not heard (or barely heard) in the single mix. In the ending, most of the second pass through the chorus (2:28-2:37 at the correct speed) has lead vocal in the album mix but wordless backing vocal in the single mix, until at 'hold on' they resume the same vocal tracks. The slower album mix is shorter because it fades out much sooner, 4 seconds sooner at the speed given, or 11 seconds sooner at corrected speed <b>...</b>
