I just got the Play version of Gold Complete working tonight. I must admit the Play version of this library is pretty impressive! I was just sitting wanking on all these great instruments and thought...man I should record this! I think I'm going to start doing a series of improvisations using various instruments. This is one I'm glad to see they added with the exapansion. It's a 70 piece string orchestra all in one patch. I believe this was the EXP one. I should have written down the settings^^ But anyway it's using some convolution verb plus some LExicon MPX 550 as well. Just a remake of the beautiful love theme for starwars composed by John Williams. It took me around about 3 days working 10 hours each day (i'm on holidays :D). I used Cubase 5 as my sequencer and the sample library Symphonic orchestra gold. Not all of the articulations are as accurate as the original but its close enough brass is a bit loud i think but i like it louder so i left it. Hope you enjoy. HOORAY OBOE!

The patterns are a bit unsorted and maybe the song is a bit repetitive, but it was my first classical song with this library. I made several new songs and I learnt much in this time but this song was my first project with this library (although it took only about 1 day ^^), so I made this video. I hope enjoy it.

This is a demo I did in 2004. It was one of 3 that I did to showcase my favorite styles to write in (Brianfreeze and Pull were the other two) I used the book Dune as a focus point for the music when I wrote the main melodic idea. I don't know if I'd call it a Dune theme though. The background image is my work as well. I modelled the Dunes and foreground arhitecture in Blender 3D, used a photo of Castle Sant Angelo, and touched up in GIMP (basic smudging). The Music uses these libraries: EWQLSO Gold (NI Powered) Roland Orchestral Family Symphony of Voices (Soprano Soloist) East West Bosendorpher 290 Here's the form if you are interested: 0:00 (5/4)Intro chords. These hint at the chordal ideas in the main theme. 0:16: (faster 5/4) A Theme - Alto flute and bassoon duet w/harp backup 0:38 (6/4) B theme more instruments enter. 0:52 (5/4)This is the build up to the full orchestra version of the theme. 1:04 The A theme with French horns and tutti backgrounds. (same one as in the duet at 0:16) 1:25 (6/4) The B theme follows full orchestra style. 1:39 (mostly 3/4 with tons of Rubato) Piano and voice. Not really a true development since I don't use the original motifs. 2:38 (3/4) strings doing low chords, prepping for another full orchestra section. 3:05 (5/4) New theme which sort of a lead-in to the return of the A and B themes. 3:39 A theme played by the strings with french horns playing counterpoint. 4:06 (6/4) B-theme in the horns

This piece uses EWQLSO Silver, Sam Horns, the free Sam Trumpet effects from way back in the day when Sam Horns first came out, as well as the old Sam Timpani. Also used are some G-Town Church Project samples, the open snares, snare ensemble, and toms. The pics don't really go with the music much, they are there so there is something to look at rather than just a black screen. All images are public domain. A very adventurous and warlike piece. Turned out alright I think. Comments and criticism welcome. This was also my first time sectioning off effect buses for strings, brass, woodwinds and percussion. More extreme panning than usual too, which sounds alright, but they pretty much go mono which kind of kills their presence. Not sure yet how to do stereo field panning on a midi channel. Might need separate buses for instrument section to take care of that in the audio signal.

Two abbreviated selections from Tchaikovsky's 'Swan Lake': including 'Dances des Petits Cygnes', and the 'Scene' opening act 2. I did this using Sibelius 7 notation software, using East-West-Quantum Leap Symphonic Orchestra Platinum as the sampler for playback. I've been working on it for about 2 weeks, as an example piece while I construct a manual sound set and personalized playback configuration around it. My System: I'm using an Intel iCore 7 (6-core 3.2GHz) computer running Windows 7 (64-bit), with 24GB of high-speed RAM, and EWQLSO Platinum installed across 4 Solid State Drives (one per choir) to eliminate bottlenecks in sample retrieval. Using Sibelius 7 (a 64-bit program, allowing me to access all the RAM I need) means I can load heavy keyswitching instruments and high-quality samples & reverb into the playback configuration without overloading Sibelius.
