The Double Dutch Divas appear every Sunday at 7 pm from the beginning of July thru the 2-3rd week of September. Located just yards downtown beside the skater's circle in Central Park, right beside the skater's after-party. Playing Double Dutch involves at least three people total: one or more jumping and two turning the ropes. A person jumping usually does tricks that may involve gymnastics or breakdancing, it can also have fancy foot movements incorporated. Young people, including many boys, do this for fitness and it is competed at world level. Competitions in double-dutch were often seen at block parties. During the very early years of hip hop culture, double-dutch was an element of the culture (popularized in the song Double Dutch Bus). After hip hop began moving towards the mainstream in the early 1980s, double-dutch fell out of favor as a recognized element of hip hop, although it remains popular with athletes to this day. Buy on iTunes here: is.gd "Double Dutch Bus" is a 1981 funk song by Frankie Smith, made famous for its extensive use of the "izz" infix form of slang. The song title represents a combination of two institutions in Smith's Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, neighborhood: the double Dutch game of jump rope played by neighborhood kids, and the SEPTA bus system that was a backbone of the local transportation network (and for which Smith had unsuccessfully applied for a bus driving position; the Transpass referred to in the song is an actual SEPTA pass). Smith and co-writer Bill Bloom persuaded contacts at WMOT Records to finance the song, and it was recorded in the summer of 1981, engineered by Gene Leone. The song rocketed to popularity in a matter of weeks. On the US Billboard R&B chart, it held the number one spot for eight weeks. It also crossed over to the Billboard Hot 100, where it peaked at number 30 in the summer of 1981.[1] The record has received two separate gold certifications, one for sales of the 7" edit, and a second gold record for sales of the 12" single.

How to Double Dutch
Learn about the sport of Double Dutch in this instructional video from Sport in Society and the Red Auerbach Youth Foundation. Double Dutch is a sport involving at least three players at a time using two long jump ropes being turned in opposite directions. It's a high-energy, low-cost sport that requires only limited practice space. Coach Patti Travers describes her experience in Double Dutch: "Coaching and founding The Beantown Jumpers Double Dutch Team has probably been one of the most rewarding experiences I have ever had. Our focus is on children who would not otherwise participate in sport to get involved in physical activity. I encourage positive communication, integrate cooperation and respect for all equaling an atmosphere where self-confidence and self-esteem rise. Emphasis is focused on the whole team." Since 2004, Sport in Society, in collaboration with the Red Auerbach Youth Foundation, has built the capacity of the Double Dutch League of Massachusetts by facilitating the grassroots organizational outreach for the league, providing information and resources to coaches and teams, acting as a liaison for demonstrations, overseeing coaching clinics, and hosting the annual tournaments. In 2010-2011, the Double Dutch League of Massachusetts reached over 400 youth in the Commonwealth, with the majority of athletes concentrated in the Greater Boston area. Double Dutch after school
The Trenton recreation department has an after school program with lots of activities around the city. The kids can show up at one place and if there is an activity and if there is an activity that they interested in another part of town transportation is provided to the activity and back. This is my editing of one of those activities.

"Double Dutch Bus" was later covered by Raven-Symoné. The track was released to promote the film College Road Trip and will be featured in her fourth studio album, Raven-Symoné, as a bonus track. The single was released in February 9, 2008 on Radio Disney. "Double Dutch Bus" was added onto the US iTunes Store on March 4, 2008. Within a day, the song quickly rose to become Raven-Symoné's most downloaded song. The song has peaked thus far at #9 on the iTunes Top R&B/Soul Downloads chart. The song was moved from the R&B/Soul category to the Pop category where it peaked at #35 on the Top Pop Downloads Chart. The song also peaked at in the 60's in the Canadian iTunes Pop 100. On April 3, 2008, fans of Raven-Symoné held a Download Day on iTunes to promote the single and give it a place on the charts.
