It is very interesting His Holiness the Dalai Lama a monk, scholar, erudite master and a very down to earth and logical person also consults ancient oracles for his decision making. The first deity he consults through the oracle is Nechung, who is known to be an unenlightened being. This is very fascinating also. You can read about the wordly spirit Nechung here: dorjeshugden.com If Dalai Lama is to ban deities entering oracles to speak as in the case of Dorje Shugden, how come Nechung is allowed to enter a Oracle to speak. And also Dalai Lama himself is consulting the spirit Nechung via the oracle in his private quarters as in the video? I am not looking to find fault with Dalai Lama or asking for criticism, but was wondering why two rules? Or two standards? His Holiness Dalai Lama asks us to trust Lord Buddha and not go into 'spirit worship' or get involved with spirits. What is happening here? Any answers to this anyone?

'On Life and Enlightment' explores Tibetan Vajrayana Buddhism in all its various manifestations. The concept of the liberated mind, through compassion and discipline, has created a maltitude of forms that resonate with the grandeur of the Karakoram Himalayas and the extreme of austerity and sacrifice. Over a thousand years, the Tibetans have crystallized the ideas on non-duality and realized the pathways of the mind. They developed techniques and rituals, each of which was designed to bring the adept closer to the spirituals, each of which was designed to bring the adept closer to the spiritual heights held as the ideal. This 5-part program takes you to the upper reaches of the Himalaya's and across thousands of miles to go inside of the thriving monasteries in Tibet and India. You will witness the spiritual journeys and that the thousands of Buddhist monks undergo in their rigorous training and spectacular ancient rituals. The path to enlightenment is presented through these insightful teachings and techniques

The Dalai Lama will celebrate his 76th birthday today in downtown Washington, DC, as thousands gather to take part in an ancient Buddhist ritual and a call for world peace. Meanwhile, international political observers wait to see if the exiled Tibetan leader will be granted a meeting with President Obama, just a few blocks away. It will be the Nobel Peace Prize winner's first official event since stepping down as Tibet's exiled political leader in March and his first since his February 2010 visit to Washington that caused tension in US-Chinese relations. The grandson and son of Gandhi and Martin Luther King Jr. -- two international icons of nonviolence -- and tens of thousands of followers from around the world are expected to attend the ceremonies at Washington's major sports arena and pay their respects to the Dalai Lama's enduring message of peace.

aboutwss.org The Dalai Lama has imposed a ban on the worship of a 500-year-old deity called Dorje Shugden. Across the world 4 million Buddhist Tibetans worship this particular deity. The ban has created tension and dissent amongst the one million Tibetans living in India and in May 400 monks were thrown out of monasteries because of their religious beliefs. In the Tibetan refugee camps, Shugden worshippers have been turned away from jobs, shops and schools. Posters with the message "no Shugden followers allowed" cover hospital and shop fronts. The tension has been fueled by the Tibetan exile government who brandish Shugden worshippers as terrorists closely linked to China. Shugden followers in India have decided to take matters into their own hands, taking the Dalai Lama to court for religious discrimination.
