Well for the majority of people who might not understand why I made this video, I'll explain it all haha. Back a couple years ago when I first started making videos, they were videos like this, of random cars, cars with issues, tinkering, how to videos and much more. Just a regular car channel of random things I came across when I worked at my dad's dealership in highschool and during my undergrad work at campbell university. This vehicle is my most famous, or "infamous" if you will, video series of that era. The cursed jeep that kept coming back with more and more issues haha. These are enjoyable and fun videos, with anticipatory plots so to speak, with random inserts. A ton of people enjoy these videos as do I, which is why I started making videos in the first place! I never was able to finish up the final update video on this vehicle before we put a new engine in it and sold it. I was at school at the time. Now, almost 3 years later IT'S BACK and back with more problems ::sigh:: so let's take a close look in a old school saabkyle04 tribute video!!! Grand Cherokee steering linkage repair
I got some help from my friend and owner of this Jeep, Jason Matherson with the camera on this one. He brought me his Jeep a few months ago with a loose steering wheel and I showed him the trouble that was brewing. At first it was noisy like a rusty hinge, he tried to inject grease into the boots and that quieted things down for a bit but they still wore to the point you see here. I have to confess that this job took a lot longer than pictured as YT only allows me 10min of video (any longer is too long in my opinion anyway). I was almost done with the job when I ran out of gas for my torch and I had quite a bit of trouble putting one side back in, I ended up lubing the heck out of it. I hope this helps you get a better idea of how steering linkage works and how to fix it (with big hammers and torches). This work can be fun but if you don't have the tools that I showed in this video forget it. How to Change Your Differential Oil (Cheater Method) - Jeep Grand Cherokee 4.7L
This is being performed on a 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo with the 4.7. *****WARNING***** I must warn all that watch this, that this is not the recommended way of doing it. The correct way is to completely remove the differential covers, clean out the inside of the differential, then use RTV to form a new gasket and replace the cover so you can refill it. I chose the suction method for I change my oil more than the factory recommends, so I am not as worried about a little left over residue oil. Another advantage of taking the diff cover off is that you can inspect your gears. You would also look for metal shavings, gear tooth wear problems, chipped teeth, etc. Warning: I am not a professional and not held liable on any damages to any vehicle that you work on or have someone work on. This is only for demonstration purposes on how I have done work on my own vehicle and may have left out some critical information. Please refer to your dealer before performing any maintenance or work on your own.
