On August 5th 2005 I was violently attacked while playing a gig at Harpoon Harry's in Punta Gorda Florida.. The bar owners son-in-law tried to kill me by hitting me in the head with a bar stool. I feel down a flight of stares and recieved futher brain and spinial damage, busting my nose pretty damn bad and busting my teeth, cracking a few of them. I had to learn how to walk correctly with my left foot, talk without sluring my speech, eat, read, write, drive, stand up straight on my own, etc, etc and yes... play drums all over again. The doctors said that it was like my brain was a fileing cabinet that exploded. The information was not gone, just scattered all over the place. I needed several years and possiably a life time to gather up the information that I have in my brain and sort it out again. In September 2005 I still didnt even know what a drum stick was called or what it was even used for. I taught myself how to play again by watching my own videos and Jim Chapins video.. This video was recorded APPROXIMATLY a year and four months later on one of my first live performances with brain and spinial damage and official disabled. When this was recorded, I still couldnt read, or write, walk correctly, drive, and dress myself without help due to extreme back pain, or talk correctly. I know that the solo doesnt swing right and my chops are all over the place....but Im trying DAMMIT! I could have said screw it like most people would and have my own pity party for the rest ...
