Islamic wars have brought questionable benefit to the US over the last 20 years, former US presidential advisor Pat Buchanan, author of Suicide of a Superpower, shared with RT. A new war in the Middle East will be a disaster for the US and for the world economy, he says. "I opposed the Desert Storm operation in 1991 cleaning Saddam Hussein out of Kuwait because, I said, 'This would only be the first Arab-American war.'" Looking at the number of conflicts in the Islam world that America is taking part in now, one cannot but admit that Buchanan was right 20 years ago. "You cannot replicate the Middle West in the Middle East," Pat Buchanan concluded. From the time of the Cold War the US has military bases all over the world. Today, running a budget deficit of 10 per cent of its GDP, America simply cannot afford to continue "to carry this enormous burden, defending 40 or 50 countries around the world," Buchanan says, "We have to bring troops home." Getting rid of these bases essentially means dismantling the American Empire to help the US survive beyond 2025. America's crusade under the banner of ending tyranny in the world is "utterly utopian". RT on Twitter twitter.com RT on Facebook www.facebook.com

Staunch conservative Pat Buchanan had nothing but love for Barack Obama's acceptance speech at the 2008 Democratic national convention given before 85000 people in Denver's Mile High Stadium

One of the pioneers of the telecaster sound, he was noted for his use of note bending, volume swells, staccato runs and "pinch" harmonics. He is considered by many to be one of America's most soulful guitar masters, and even 20 years after his death, he maintains an army of devoted fans, including some of rock guitar's greatest (just ask Jeff Beck, Robbie Robertson or Billy Gibbons). This performance, captured on the ACL stage on November 15, 1976, shows Roy Buchanan in his prime at the age of 37. Indeed, it may well be the best high-quality audio/video recording of his complete performance known to exist.

Could the recent events in Texas, Arizona, and Kentucky represent a growing trend sweeping across America? Political analyst Pat Buchanan says yes! RT's Dina Gusovsky speaks with him at his home in McLean, Virginia about the immigration debate, the recent Texas school board controversy, and Dr. Rand Paul's victory in the Kentucky GOP primaries.

Montage of Scottish boxing great Ken Buchanan. Buchanan was the undisputed Lightweight champion of the world in the early 70's and fought the best fighters of his era including Roberto Duran, who Buchanan lost to in one of the most controversial fights in modern history. In his career however, Buchanan did beat quality fighters such as Ismael Laguna, Carlos Ortiz, Ruben Navarro, and fellow Scot Jim Watt, who would go on to win the WBC Lightweight title himself 6 years later. In the year 2000, Ken was inducted in Canastota's International Boxing Hall of Fame.

More about this programme: www.bbc.co.uk Hope has been abandoned by her mother Lily. Against all odds she has survived on her own in the woods, but she should still be with her mother for another whole year. Gordon Buchanan and scientist Dr. Lynn Rogers, aim to gain her trust so that they can attach a specially made radio collar around her neck. This will mean that they can find her in the vast forests of Minnesota to supplement her mother's milk, keeping her in the wild and out of captivity.
