This is a tutorial on how to make and animate your very own brickfilm. I created this video as my own Independent Investigation Project for SAGE. If you really want to know about making brickfilms, I would go to brickfilms.com and click on the resources page, but if you are a beginner (and pardon me if you are not)remember to always start on a level you fell comfortable with. I use an Olympus FE-210/X-775 camera and a Vegas 8.0 program. This is the first Lego animation or "Brickfilm" as some people would call it, ever made, by a genius named "Lindsay Fleay". It was created in Perth, Western Australia between the years of 1985 and 1989! I talked to Lindsay and he gave me permission to upload this to my Youtube channel. My entry for the Brickfilms.com Heroes and Villains contest for the Summer of 2005, Don't Bug Me was a spin off from a joke made by 'KarateDude' in the Brickfilms chat about 'educational super heroes'. With collaboration with Rachel 'Dewfilms' Dew in regard to character development and use of some previous 'villains' I had developed for other purposes, Don't Bug Me takes one into Brickville High for a weird little adventure. Is it a hero or is it a villain film? Technically this film has some problems problems such a some set bumps, timing and some other fixes but hopefully the story is fun to follow albeit a bit rushed.

A couple years ago when the first Clone Wars trailer leaked, I attempted to recreate that trailer in LEGO. I got half way done, then gave up. Since then I've been learning the ins and outs of Blender by working on other projects, trying to become the best at that program as I can be. Two weeks ago I decided I needed to render something to see how much I've learned. This old project was the perfect vehicle to test with. And here is the result. This brickfilm--made for a class project--is based on the 1994 Newbery Honor Book by Laurence Yep, and tells of 14-year-old Otter's 1865 emigration from China and subsequent travails in California. This film takes place over the first 60 or so pages of the book.
