Betelgeuse, the 9th brightest star in the sky, is a red supergiant. As one of the largest known stars, Betelgeuse is truly a giant - 14 times more massive than our sun and 800 times its diameter. Betelgeuse is so large that it could contain over 1 and a half billion of our suns. If placed in the center of our solar system, the outer surface of Betelgeuse would extend almost to the orbit of Jupiter - engulfing Mercury, Venus, Mars and the Earth. We gradually close in on the red supergiant star Betelgeuse and zoom in until the strange flame-like nebula becomes visible in a new infrared image from the VISIR camera on ESO's Very Large Telescope. Using the VISIR instrument on ESO's Very Large Telescope (VLT), astronomers have imaged a complex and bright nebula around the supergiant star Betelgeuse in greater detail than ever before. This structure, which resembles flames emanating from the star, is formed as the behemoth sheds its material into space. Betelgeuse, a red supergiant in the constellation of Orion, is one of the brightest stars in the night sky. It is also one of the biggest, being almost the size of the orbit of Jupiter — about four and half times the diameter of the Earth's orbit. It is the first round object that you see to the far left. I have edited this video with contrast to try and help you see it. Look to the upper left - it is perfectly round, white object about the size of a nickel on this video. Sorry that it was so sunny and cloudy, but I saw it on and off all day long on this day - Friday, October 14, 2011 (my 2 sons saw it, too) until about 5P. We live in Apple Valley, MN. I zoomed in on this video. On my other video taken on September 26th, I didn't zoom, and it looks really small. I am still gonna try to get a better video of whatever it is. The Sun was above it. It is not a cloud or sun dog. When you catch it, it is very obvious that it is a separate thing from the Sun, not a reflection.

Again, this one didn't come out quite as perfectly because of that. This one didn't turn out quite as well as it could have because I was sure this movie was a lot longer than it actually is and I made this at my Grandma's cottage, which meant that I just had my laptop, Beetlejuice, and the songs that happened to be on the laptop at the time. That's why the weird song choice. This isn't the best, I know, and not that well edited, it's just supposed to tell the story. A little different than the actual storyline of the movie, 'cause it focuses on Lyds and BJ and sort of follows the idea that she let him out before the whole ordeal and then she let him back out afterwards. And then the cartoon comes. XD Also, please ignore the sudden, inexplicable costume changes for Lydia. It's supposed to be in order, pretty much... I think I've seen Mikii333's Beetlejuice and Lydia Tribute one too many times. XD (I'm planning to make a better video with Beetlejuice, don't worry. There aren't enough BJ/Lyds vids for my liking.
