5 year old Kaylee takes 3 hours a week of Classical Russian Ballet. This is very helpful for her rythmic, artistic gymnastics and competitive dance. Her favorite part of Ballet is center work. She loves jumping, leaping and turning. This is her second year of classical ballet. Kaylee is not taking class here with her regular ballet teachers. She is just having a private with another ballet teacher at another studio so we could film her. She has never worked with Ms. Kirsten doing ballet before so some parts of this class she was doing things she has never tried before. [Arthaus 100713] TCHAIKOVSKY: Swan Lake (Bolshoi Ballet, 1989)
From the Bolshoi Theatre 1989. Swan Lake is the very essence of classical ballet and has a rather venerable history of its own. First choreographed in 1877 by the great Marius Petipa for the Bolshoi, this original choreography has since been tweaked by almost every choreographer to get hold of it down through the years. Yuri Grigorovich keeps the general outline of the story of a prince who falls in love with the mythic half-woman, half-swan Odette (only to betray her when she appears to him in disguise as Odile). Grigorovich however added a controversial twist with his inclusion of a psychological dimension to the proceedings: the evil sorcerer cast as the dark twin of the hero-prince. The pearl of this production is undoubtedly Alla Mikhalchenko as Odette-Odile. Her impressive technique and brilliant acting gives the character a new expressive dimension. Octopus Ballet
This white octopus was filmed with a high-definition underwater video camera at 6600 feet depth 200 miles off the coast of Oregon in September 2005 as part of the VISIONS '05 expedition led by Professors John Delaney and Deborah Kelley of the University of Washington. Little is known about the deep-sea octopuses that live in proximity to the hydrothermal vent fields associated with the underwater volcanoes of the Juan de Fuca Ridge in the Northeast Pacific Ocean. This video features the Grimpoteuthis bathynectes species. Sometimes nicknamed the Dumbo octopus, its ears are really fins that help it move through the water. Patricia Zhou a determined and motivated Asian female who loves ballet, though initially opposed by her parents, decided to pursue ballet as a career. Defeated the odds where most ballet dancers are bred at a very young age of 2 and 3, then move on to a ballet school at 9 or 10, Patricia Zhou began learning at the age of 13 at the Kirov Academy of Ballet of Washington DC. In that short time she has been called the "Michael Jordan" of Ballet. Priscilla Ahn is a singer songwriter who began her career via online social media, such as MySpace Music, and was discovered in a few years by a record label, making her who she is now. She is till considered an indie singer songwriter, but has definitely made a name for herself. Her views on YouTube are in the millions, such as Lullaby, Are We Different and Rain.
