An early Phil Spector production (Philles Records) that went to #8 on pop and was played on our r&b station. This group was reportedly really the Blossoms. For those too young to "get it", girls used to wear bobby socks. *** I was arecord collector in the 50s and 60s, mostly R&B, doowop, and Motown. My first two purchased records were 78s in '56...Peggy Sue and Blue Suede Shoes (still got em). I listened mostly to KDIA in San Francisco/Oakland back in the day. If I liked a new song, I bought it. Hence you may discover some great songs as we go on this journey. Remember, just because it wasn't a hit doesn't mean it wasn't a great song.
The Rationals (1960s) Zip-a-Dee-Doo-Dah
The Rationals were on the Ann Arbor scene before any other band of the era and in my experience are remembered with fondness by all the other bands that came after them. Their hit "Respect" made the national charts. Although the entire band seldom plays together anymore, lead singer Scot Morgan is still playing and frequently tours venues in Europe and the United States. Competition was held at Baldknobber's Theater. She brought home a gold and first place in her age category. Gary S. Paxton, Jason Yeager and Louise Harrison were some of her judges. She has been singing since she was 18 months old at home and in church and with Oklahoma Kids since she was 2 years old. This is her 3rd year with American Kids.

Shane was taking part in the 'Forest Of No Return - Hal Willner presents the Vintage Disney Songbook' concert. The evening included reinventions of classic Disney songs by artists including Pete Doherty, Nick Cave, David Thomas, Gavin Friday, Ed Harcourt, Grace Jones, Róisín Murphy and Jarvis Cocker himself.
