Links between Ysgol Glan-y-Mor and the RNLI began in 1973 when Burry Port was re-established as an operational lifeboat station. For the last 30 years the school has allowed numerous staff and pupils to volunteer for the crew and as shore helpers. In addition, they have fundraised for the RNLI, making donations of over £500 a year for the last five years. They take an active approach to promoting sea safety by organising special events where pupils have an opportunity to view a D class and talk to the local crew.
