In somewhat of a shocking box office report, Water for Elephants came in at number three this weekend right behind Tyler Perry's latest Madea movie, and the movie that refuses to move from that number one spot -- animated feature "Rio." "Rio" continues to kill it at the box office, and despite the fact that Water for Elephants couldn't surpass this film's numbers, we should keep in mind that the movie did do decent numbers when you take a look at how it fared when compared with another romantic classic "The Notebook." Overall, Elephants raked in about 17.5 million dollars over the Easter weekend, which is clearly much less than any of the Twilight Saga movies, but that's to be expected. So are you at all surprised by the fact that Rio and Madea's Big Happy Family beat out Water for Elephants. It starts off with the building of the circus -- a location that we will see a whole lot of... especially as RP's character falls in love with starring show dancer -- played by Reese Witherspoon. We can tell that this is the retelling of the story back in the day in present day from a older gentleman. Water for Elephants showcases the most famous circus disaster of all time, even though the trailer shows mostly beautiful, romantic and passion-filled scenes with vivid and detailed cinematography.
