An F/A-18C Hornet assigned to Strike Fighter Squadron (VFA) 113 experienced an engine fire following a touch-and-go landing aboard USS Carl Vinson (CVN 70) April 11. The pilot was able to execute a single-engine approach and land on board. Upon landing, the aircraft fuselage became engulfed in flames. Carl Vinson's Crash and Salvage team, assigned to Air Department's V-1 Division, responded immediately with the P-25 mobile fire fighting vehicle along with the flight deck emergency hose team. The aircraft fire was extinguished using aqueous film forming foam (AFFF), and the pilot exited the plane uninjured. No flight deck personnel were injured in the mishap.
I flimed the USS Carl Vinson from a pretty great distance using my Panasonic HD camcorder. It's pretty impressive to see something like this in real life. We had a chance to talk about shooting in NY, believing in yourself and training for Step Up 3D. RICK MALAMBRI (Luke) is a talented newcomer who is poised to make a name for himself with his leading role in "Step Up 3D ." Originally from Fort Walton Beach, Fla ., Malambri strived toward anything that dealt with the influence of art . Growing up, he loved break dancing with friends, which kept him busy and out of trouble . After high school, he was pursuing a degree in Computer Animation and Digital Media when he was approached on the street by an agent with Wilhelmina . Malambri moved to New York City in 2003 to pursue a modeling career where he secured work for D&G, Tommy Hilfiger and American Eagle . Immediately he was walking the runways of Milan, New York and Paris, and doing photo shoots around the world . Malambri has appeared in major campaigns for Abercrombie & Fitch and Ralph Lauren and has worked with some of the most notable photographers in the world . Sophomore 149-pound wrestler Donnie Vinson has been named BU's Athlete of the Week for January 24-30, earning the honor for the second time in three weeks. Vinson won both his dual matches to remain unbeaten in duals for the season at 16-0. The marquee win was a 5-3 decision over the reigning NCAA champion and second-ranked wrestler in the nation, Kyle Dake of Cornell. Vinson then beat his opponent from 15th-ranked Iowa State and raised his record to 19-2 overall this season.
