RICKY NELSON: Teenage Idol Slideshow

This is a tribute to the wonderful Ricky Nelson. His songs were simple, but his voice was so appealing and smooth. Ricky was a charmer, but never took all the glory. Although he was a teenage idol, he was a true performer at heart. Enjoy. Vally

Blackfoot - Teenage Idol [Official Music Video]

Blackfoot - Teenage Idol From "Siogo" [1983] Lyrics: A lonely boy in the city Standing tall up to his blue jean jacket and eyes of pity He's got a dream, now he told his Papa "Don't you worry Daddy I'll be back to show you what a life I've made" With a tear falling from his eyes He knew that he wanted to be Oh, he wants to be, yes, he's got to be Oh, he'd love to be a teenage idol Standing in his hometown Waiting for the bus that'll take him Farther than he's ever been Picked up his bags and kissed his sweetheart "Don't you worry honey, I'll be back To show you what a life I've made" With a tear falling from her eyes She knew that he'd love to be Oh, he wants to be, yes, he's got to be Oh, he'd love to be a teenage idol Oh, if he could see, his name on the marquee He'd live so happily, as a teenage idol He's in another city Standing tall up to his satin jacket and eyes of pity He's got it all except for his Papa "Don't you worry, Daddy I've shown them what a pretty life I've made Even though I'll miss you badly You know I always wanted to be" Oh, I want to be, yes, I've got to be Oh, I'd love to be a teenage idol Oh, I want to be, yes, I've got to be Oh, I'd love to be a teenage idol Yes, I want to be, oh, I've got to be Oh, I'd want to be a teenage idol Yes, I'd love to see, my name on the marquee I'd live so happily as a teenage idol Oh, I'd want to be, yes, I've got to be Oh, I'd love to be a teenage idol

Just a little tribute to four fellas I would have loved to have dated, but I was born too late! James Darren, Fabian, Michael Callan and John Saxon were talented performers who made more than their share of females swoon in the 50s and 60s. All four are still going strong and have lost none of their charm and talent. I fell in love with James Darren in "Gidget" (1959), Fabian in "Ride The Wild Surf" (1964), Michael Callan in "Gidget Goes Hawaiian (1961), and John Saxon through "Portrait In Black" (1960) and later in "A Nightmare On Elm Street" (1984) and "Black Christmas" (1974). Darren and Callan appeared together in "Because They're Young" and "Gidget Goes Hawaiian", and Fabian and Saxon appeared together in "Mr Hobbs Takes A Vacation" (1962). The song is of course by the Poni-Tails. Clips from: Gidget (1959) Because They're Young (1960, trailer) What's My Line? I'M GONNA BE A TEENAGE IDOL Elton John Don't Shoot Me (I'm Only The Piano Player) (1973) Well there's slim times when my words won't rhyme And the hills I face are a long hard climb I just sit cross legged with my old guitar It kind of makes me feel like a rock and roll star Well it makes me laugh Lord it makes me cry And I think for once let me just get high Let me get electric put a silk suit on Turn my old guitar into a tommy gun And root-toot-shoot myself to fame Every kid alive gonna know my name An overnight phenomenon like there's never been A motivated supersonic king of the scene I'll be a teenage idol, just give me a break I'm gonna be a teenage idol no matter how long it takes You can't imagine what it means to me I'm gonna grab myself a place in history A teenage idol that's what I'm gonna be Well life is short and the world is rough And if you're gonna boogie boy you got to be tough Nobody knows if I'm dead or alive I just drink myself to sleep each night And so I pray to the teenage god of rock If I make it big let me stay on top You got to cut me loose from this one room dive Put me on the ladder keep this boy alive
