Tanzanian Miraculous Boy, 5yrs, Converts 1000+ To Islam Part 1/2.

According to a huge number of online sources, a 5 year old Kenyan boy - sometimes he's claimed to be Tanzanian or Nigerian - can recite the entire Qur'an and preach in at least 5 languages. The boy is alleged to have converted thousands of people all over the world. This article which was printed in the "Scotland on Sunday" newspaper seems to be the original source for the story circulating on a large number of Islamic websites: There are orphans and street children everywhere. So much so that the sight of another small child standing on a street corner hardly merits a second glance. But only when the boy opens his mouth to speak do onlookers realise that Shariff Idd is special. The five year-old speaks in five languages - English French Italian, Swahili and Arabic - even though he is completely uneducated. Shariff is a preacher who draws crowds of thousands in Kenya to his increasingly regular sermons. The Libyan leader Colonel Muammar al Gaddafi is a great supporter following an audience with him earlier this year. Last week was a milestone for the child introduced to gawping throngs as the "miracle boy" of East Africa. He smiled triumphantly when told he had notched up his one thousandth conversion to Islam in a country where Muslims are a minority. Tours of France and Britain now beckon, according to Hajji Maroulin, one of the boy's four guardians. he will travel as a missionary on a trip to e financed by a Muslim businessman from the Ivory Coast. Tanzanian albinos targeted for their body parts

Albinos in Dodoma in Tanzania are being targeted by criminals thanks to a burgeoning trade in their body parts. The albinos, who suffer from a lack of skin pigmentation, are believed by witch doctors to hold magical powers which makes their body parts valuable for use in medicine. A severed arm or leg from an albino can reportedly fetch in the region of £1000, and while the law has changed to punish those involved in the attacks with the death penalty, the risk is still great enough that many albino children live in refuges to ensure their safety.

Toronto Tanzania Solidarity

Approximately 70 people gathered outside the University of Toronto's Munk School of Global Affairs for a commemoration held for the seven individuals killed in Tanzania at African Barrick Gold's North Mara Mine. Peter Munk, who recently donated $35million to the University, is the founder of Barrick Gold. Public outcry over this violence has been amplified by recent reports that local security/police forces employed by the mine have attempted to ban a memorial ceremony for the deceased. To the horror of many local families, these security forces also stole 5 of the 7 peoples' bodies from the mortuary. The violence surrounding Barrick's North Mara mine has been ongoing since the company first arrived in the region. Mass displacements, lost livelihoods, contaminated water and the resulting health impacts are at the root of the ongoing violence. Climate Change Adaptation for Tanzania's Coastal Villages

The Coastal Resources Center collaborates with USAID and other partners to carry out natural hazard and climate change vulnerability assessments, put adaptation measures into place and share lessons about what works and what needs to be done. In this series of short videos, we explore some practical approaches being used right now by our colleagues in several different coastal countries to manage risk and take no-regrets actions to increase their resilience and adapt to the impacts of climate change. The Pwani Project carried out by the Tanzania Coastal Management Partnership is helping coastal communities assess climate change impacts and find ways to adapt using their own resources and knowledge.
