Dave Brubeck - Strange Meadow Lark - Sheet Music and MIDI

This song from classic album "TIME OUT". Best of all time for jazz album. Enjoy listening in MIDI version. I don't know why Sibelius sound set doesn't play midi drum perfectly, but sound of piano and bass still be excellent.

Strange Meadowlark Live by Abhik (9)

Abhik playing jazz at the Lancaster Music Club's 23rd Annual Americal Music Festival in Lancaster, Ohio. Recorded live on Feb 6, 2011. This concert was organized to celebrate some of the great American composers, including some original compositions that were played by the composers themselves. This video has two pieces: (1) Strange Meadowlark (Composer: Dave Brubeck) (2) Take the A-train (Composer: Billy Strayhorn) Abhik is accompanied on the second piece by his jazz teacher, Mark Flugge (www.markflugge.com), who is playing the bassline--the part that a bass guitarist would normally play. Both pieces are arranged by Abhik, and all of the improvisations are either his own or learnt by ear from the original recordings.

I was so impressed by his impeccable, swinging style that I decided right then that I wanted him to make an album. Danny Long plays a lot of piano. From Wikipedia: Time Out is a 1959 album (originally issued as CS 8192) by The Dave Brubeck Quartet, based upon the use of time signatures that were unusual for jazz (mainly waltz or double-waltz time, but also 9/8, and most famously 5/4). The style is a subtle blend of cool and West Coast jazz. Although the album was intended as an experiment Columbia president Goddard Lieberson was willing to chance releasing it) and received negative reviews by critics upon its release ...

Recorded at Columbia's 30th Street Studios in New York City on June 25, July 1, and August 18, 1959,[1] this piece became one of the group's best-known records, famous for its distinctive, catchy saxophone melody and use of the unusual quintuple (5/4) time, from which its name is derived.[2] While "Take Five" was not the first jazz composition to use this meter, it was one of the first in the United States to achieve mainstream significance, reaching #25 on the Billboard Hot 100 and #5 on Billboard's Easy Listening survey, the precursor to today's Adult Contemporary charts, in 1961, two years after its initial release. "Take Five" was re-recorded and performed live multiple times by The Dave Brubeck Quartet throughout the group's career. In addition, there have been many covers of the piece. Some versions also feature lyrics, including a 1961 recording with lyrics written by Dave Brubeck and his wife Iola, sung by Carmen McRae. Al Jarreau performed an unusual ...
