While most visual artists prefer traditional materials such as oil, acrylic, bronze and ceramic, Tokyo-based SACHIKO KODAMA prefers FERROFLUIDS. Composed of magnetic nanoparticles, ferrofluids often contain high levels of iron and, as such, are deeply affected by and responsive to the presence of magnetic fields. While the NASA-developed ferrofluids are being used increasingly for commercial applications - on everything from compact disks to weight-responsive car suspension systems - Kodama is revolutionary in applying their widely dynamic qualities to the fine arts arena. Using a computer to manipulate electro-magnetic fields in the sculptures, Kodama coerces her stunning ferrfluid pieces to grow and disintegrate, flower and shed, and constantly reinvent themselves without the aid of animatronics or video wizardry.

From the exhibition Sculpture in Motion at the Atlanta Botanical Garden on view through October 2008 and curated by Brigitte Micmacker from Sculpturesite Gallery. Courtesy the Curator's commentary: "Morpho Tower, Sachiko Kodama's mesmerizing synthesis of science, technology and art rises like an eccentric, thorny, botanical form within a world of most peculiar botanical forms housed in the Desert House of the Fuqua Conservatory. Employing electromagnets and magnetically-charged microfine particles suspended in oil set in motion through a computer controller, Kodama, who is associate professor at Tokyo's University of Electro-Communications, explores an entirely new territory where the seductive glossy black liquid seems to turn into rows of solid spikes impeccably organized around a spiraling cone, only to dissolve abruptly into obvious liquidity once again --a rhythmic flow and ebb, an alchemic dance where the artist playfully communicates basic principles of physics without elucidating them."

Some info from the web...Sachiko Kanenobu is generally acknowledged as Japan's first female singer-songwriter. Discovered as an precocious 18 year old in Osaka, Sachiko was signed in 1968 to Japan's first ever independent record company, URC (Underground Record Club), who changed Japan's musical landscape irrevocably in the late 60s and early 70s with artists like Happy End, Folk Crusaders and Kenji Endo. Sachiko was the only female artist on this era-defining label and the very fact that she wrote and sang her own songs made her a rarity among Japanese women. But just a few months before her debut album Misora was released in 1972, Sachiko left Japan and secretly emigrated to America to marry music critic Paul Williams (Crawdaddy Magazine, Rolling Stone). She did not record again for almost a decade and didn't release another album until 1992. Instead she settled with Williams in small-town California and raised two sons. Misora was released in her absence and promptly disappeared, without an artist to promote it. Sachiko Ueyama plays-1; sachicounterpoints sachicounterpoints final exam sachicounterpoints Sachiko Ueyama [(Bass)clarinetist] I researched for the new possibility with keyboards also. 20th of December 2007, Rotterdam Conservatory had one of the biggest projects of 2007-2008 year, "Christmas concerts projects". Steve Reich(b.1936 America)was one of the theme composers of the project. We played "New York Counterpoint"(commisioned by The Fromm Music Foundation for clarinetist Richard Stolzman, 1985). After the project I got an interest with this composer. While I was searching about him, I found a very interesting video performance of "Piano Phase for 2 pianos" by pianist, Peter Aidu (b.1976 Russia). on October 2006, He performed this composition with an absolutely unique technique. While playing on two pianos, with a left hand on one instrument and the right hand separately on the second piano, he was recreating the sounding of two performers. It must be so difficult to do this performance but he plays as if he is doing very easy works. His performance made me very clearly how I want to creat new possibilities with keyboards. What I am going to do today is created with the keyboards of the style of Steve Reich - "Minimalism" "Process music" "Repetition" and "Difference of timing". The main theme of piece called "The theme of happiness" after my name - "Sachiko" which means "happy girl" or "lucky girl" in Japanese. (My family name - "Ueyama" is top of the mountain ...

Okay, so I whipped out the camera real quick because I seen Kobayashi Sashiko singing on the new years eve special and she's always way, WAY over the top. I haven't seen her in a while and I find it always interesting to see her stuff, she surprised me yet again. So,,, that in mind, what do you guys think?

Another AMV. This time it is about Yumi and sachiko. Maria sama ga miteru is probably my favourite shoujo ai so I decided to make a video about yumi and sachiko. This only took me around 3 hours to make so it's a bit rough. I have only used episode 1-3 of season 1. Anime: Maria sama ga miteru Song: Guilty of love by Shanadoo Song at the end: Lie Lie Lie Thanks for watching, hope you suscribe! ^_^

After graduating from The University of Auckland, Sachiko went home to Fiji and worked for a year at the Oceania Centre at the University of the South Pacific, where she organised Fiji's first dance festival. In 2007 founded VOU ("new" in Fijian), a powerful and vibrant Pacific dance experience rich in ancient stories, tradition and culture. Sachiko has performed, composed and choreographed major works in New Zealand, Australia, Samoa, Singapore, Malaysia, India and Indonesia. She is also the President of the Fiji chapter of the World Dance Alliance.

Hachi's new job at a magazine production industry, working for Ms. Sakagami, is a bust. However, while Nana gets an opening for Blast, showing up at the restaurant where Shoji and Sachiko work at only brings trouble.

The extraordinary techniques that Sachiko Kodama uses in her projects have no precedent in contemporary art practices, either within or outside the realm of digital art. Her work illustrates how scientific research can expand the expressive vocabulary of artists today. PLEASE READ! I will NOT answer any questions that have been answered in this description!!! --- Either press the "watch in high quality" link under the video, or add &fmt=18 at the end of the url for better quality. --- YAY! It's done! Took me just a couple of hours. I would have gotten it up sooner but, you know... school ._.; I had a bit of fun doing this one even though it's really basic. I don't think I did too bad of a job either. I mean, I've done worse xD It may seem a bit rushed in a way since it's like 1 and I really should be asleep xD I said to myself that I ain't going to sleep till I get this up! Ok anyways, oh right! WARNING! This Anime is shoujo-ai (girlxgirl) so if you don't like that sort of stuff then don't watch! I'm only putting this up so I don't get any mean comments... But this AMV in particular isn't really shoujo-ai... I just made it as a tribute to Yumi and Sachiko's sisterly relationship ^^ OH!!! And does anyone know when the 4th seasons coming out!? I love this Anime! I don't even care if they're making the thing into OVAs again. I want moarz!!! It can't end the way it did D= If so... then it has a pathetic ending -.- *sobbing on the inside* TT [EDIT: Thank you KajimeMisoshiru for giving me those links.
