The Rylands (formerly MLU:UK) is an experiment in playing a disc sport under an alternative ruleset to Ultimate, which includes referees. The referees make all the calls and decide upon all the rulings in the game. The tournament was played by six elite regional All-Star teams from the UK & Ireland. Nothing like this has been seen in Europe before. More info & DVD available for purchase from www.pushpass.co.uk Since the dawn of Ultimate, questions have been asked Are referees are needed to take the sport into the mainstream? Would the game still be playable? What effect would referees have on the Spirit of the Game? The closest we have come to answering the last two questions is shown in The Rylands DVD. If you ever, ever want to have a fully informed discussion about the role of referees in Ultimate, or even hold a justified opinion on the matter, you owe it to yourself to watch this DVD. The trailer includes the most outrageous, firey, extreme moments from the weekend, so please don't draw any conclusions from it. It is exciting, though...

Samuel Zwemer Theological Seminary www.samuelzwemerseminary.com The Rylands Papyrus (P52) is considered to be the earliest surviving fragment of a portion of the New Testament. It is from John 18, with verses 31--33 on the front and verses 37--38 on the back. The dating of this manuscript is between 100 -- 150 ad If this date is correct, it makes this fragment only several decades older than the date of John's original.
