Turn up the volume! *** "Crude, lewd, rude and socially unacceptable" are just some of the accurate descriptions of Rough Trade's act. Carole Pope, born in Manchester, England, and Kevan Staples, born in Toronto, met at an audition for a group called "Deva Loca Sideshow" in 1968. Neither joined the band, but they became friends, and put together a group called "O" which played the coffeehouse circuit during 1969-1970. "O" was featured in the film "Osaka '70," made for the World's Fair held in Osaka, Japan. Kevan Staples recalls, "The film chronicled the travels of a bus trip across Canada and we were in the part about Toronto. We played on top of the bus in front of city hall. It was Carole, myself and our dear friend Clive Smith playing piano. This was the group 'O.' Clive was from England where he had played with the Bonzo Dog Doo Dah Band and went to school with Pete Townshend and many other fab gear rave limey types. He is a terrific guy and now a very successful partner in an animation company called Nelvana." After "O" disbanded in 1971, Pope and Staples formed "The Bullwhip Brothers," which was mainly the duo on guitars, with an occasional electric piano player, and friends sitting in on <b>...</b>

According to recent studies the sex industry generates worldwide revenues over $90 billion annually exceeding the combined revenue of all professional football, basketball and baseball franchises in the US Of that amount an estimated $20 billion is derived from male prostitution a practice dating back to antiquity. In ancient Greece prostitutes were mainly orphaned boys or slaves while in the islamic world they were looked upon as inferior - even though their services were frequented nonetheless - and in ancient rome male prostitutes were celebrated with their own holiday. In the US male prostitution dates back to the late 17th century evidenced by court records and vice investigations. Today they are referred to as "escorts, hustlers, and rent boys" 25% of whom work in the pornographic industry itself while the others mainly work independently of pimps or infrequently through an agency. Originally from Canada and Australia, Kate currently resides in LA. Kate's comedy career began after she graduated with an acting degree from The Juilliard School. The allure of the club scene drew her to Caroline's Comedy Club, NYC, where she quickly was slotted for a series of appearances and features showcasing her particular brand of character based comedy, edgy socio-political commentary, Asian American slanted jokes, and in your face dirty girl talk.
