Psychedelic 60s: Posters from the Rock Era @ The Toledo Museum of Art

This summer the Toledo Museum of Art is spotlighting 150 posters from The Houston Freeburg Collection in the exhibit "The Psychedelic 60s: Posters From the Rock Era" in the Museum's Canaday Gallery from June 11 through Sept. 12. Admission is free. Kudos go to curator Amy Gilman for working with the owner of these prints, Houston Freeburg, and convincing him that Toledo (he is from Tennessee) was the perfect place for this exhibit. This exhibit is a big win for Toledo. The exhibit is exciting, enchanting and quite frankly it is simply hard to leave the space. There is a simulated concert stage that provide a musical backdrop while the eyes are mesmerized by incredible graphic designs in both standard paper and ink as well as fluorescent inks under black light. The space is also adorned by a vintage VW convertible bug, tapestries, wall hangings and bead curtains. Please note - This video taken in a media role. No photography/video is allowed in this exhibit.

Warpaint - Shadows

www.warpaintwarpaint.com I know I'm afraid, I know I'm afraid, I'm drunk and I'm tired and the city I walk in, The city I walk in, It feels like it swallows my hand in my pocket. I feel like a shadow. I feel like a shadow. Though I'm afraid, Afraid that I have made mistakes. Now there's nothing here for me. The things you once told me, The thoughts you once gave me, Sound like the wind in my ears That blows out the thoughts I've got in my long brown hair. I feel like the shadows I don't even bother for anymore than that. What did you whisper in my ear? What did you tell me that I wanted to hear? What was the answer you wanted me to find out? There's the lies, the lies, the lies, the lies... Brought back something, A bit for you, a bit for everyone. You and all your pieces, You and all your pieces made me come, And all that love you gave was strong enough to make me stay and now it will be alright. I feel like the shadows I don't even bother for anymore than that. I feel like the shadows I don't even bother for anymore than that. What did you whisper in my ear? PSYCHEDELIC TRIP

Psychedelic art is any kind of visual artwork inspired by psychedelic experiences induced by drugs such as LSD, mescaline, and psilocybin. The word "psychedelic" (coined by British psychologist Humphry Osmond) "mind manifesting". By that definition all artistic efforts to depict the inner world of the psyche may be considered "psychedelic". In common parlance "Psychedelic Art" refers above all to the art movement of the 1960s counterculture. Psychedelic visual arts were a counterpart to psychedelic rock music. Concert posters, album covers, lightshows, murals, comic books, underground newspapers and more reflected not only the kaleidoscopically swirling patterns of LSD hallucinations, but also revolutionary political, social and spiritual sentiments inspired by insights derived from these psychedelic states of consciousness. The term "psychedelic experience" is vague -- Characterized by polyvalence or ambiguity due to its nature -- however in modern psychopharmacological science as well as philosophical, psychological, neurological, spiritual-religious and most other ideological discourses it is understood as an altered state of awareness often distinct to, and induced by the consumption of certain psychotropics. In particular hallucinogens, many entheogens and specifically psychedelic compounds are known to cause this change in mental state. In essence a psychedelic episode is, like other ontological notions of unique states of being (compare "enlightenment", religious ...

Mystic Siva - Spinning A Spell (US 1969-70)

Second track from the album "Under The Influence" (1969-70) with some psychedelic art. First issue of these recordings from 1969-70, packaged in a heavy duty book-like folder. "Previously unreleased recordings of Mystic Siva from Detroit, very famous in the psychedelic collector´s scene for their outstanding and rare original album (already reissued by WIS). The music here, recorded live prior to the album is taken from the mastertapes. The opener is an instrumental cut, followed by six diff. versions of original album tracks in very powerful style, mixed with four long acid jamming cover tunes turned into typical Siva style with pounding and hypnotic Hammond B3 organ, wailing and distorted fuzz/wah-wah guitarwork, powerful (sometimes Doors influenced) vocals and massive drums which lead you to the holy grail of psychedelic music." Unreleased gem from 1969/70 perhaps even better than the original album. Features mind melting arrangements of "Come Together", "Tobacco Road","I'm A Man" and "Black Sheep" along with 7 of the groups own compositions. Graham Hancock Petroglyph & Rock Art tour, Utah

Entangled (US): amzn.to Entangled (UK): amzn.to Supernatural (US): amzn.to Supernatural (UK): amzn.to Prehistoric rock art, cave paintings and petroglyphs from all parts of the world show extraordinary similarities and even identical figures -- yet these ancient cultures were often separated by thousands of years of time and thousands of miles of geographical distance and were not in contact with one another. In this clip from a visit to rock art sites in Utah's canyon country, arranged as part of the October 2010 Reality Sandwich retreat at the Boulder Mountain Guest Ranch, Graham Hancock argues that shamanic altered states of consciousness, often brought on by the use of entheogenic plants, are the most likely answer to the mystery. For a more detailed explanation see Graham's last non-fiction book Supernatural: Meetings with the Ancient Teachers of Mankind. His first novel Entangled also delves into this mystery. Psychedelic Furs - The Ghost In You HD

The Psychedelic Furs are an English post-punk/New Wave band founded in 1977. Led by singer Richard Butler and his brother Tim on bass guitar, the Psychedelic Furs are one of the many acts spawned from the British post-punk scene. Their music went through several phases, from an initially austere art rock sound, later touching on new wave and hard rock. They scored several hits in their early career, but were launched to international attention in 1986 when the film director John Hughes borrowed their song title "Pretty in Pink" for his movie of the same name. A newly recorded version of the song became the Psychedlic Furs' biggest hit to that time. "Heartbreak Beat", from their 1987 album Midnight to Midnight, was to be the Furs' biggest Top 40 entry in the US. The Psychedelic Furs went on hiatus in 1991, and the Butler brothers formed a new band called Love Spit Love. The Psychedelic Furs later regrouped in 2001 and continue to perform around the world. "The Ghost in You" is a song by The Psychedelic Furs. It was written by Richard Butler and his brother Tim Butler, and later released in their album Mirror Moves. It was released as the second single from the album and charted in both the US Pop charts (#59) and the UK Singles Chart (#68). Cover versions have been later recorded and included on the soundtrack of popular films: By Counting Crows for the film Clueless By Mark McGrath of Sugar Ray for the film 50 First Dates Robyn Hitchcock has also covered the song. stanley5.blogspot.com 史丹利五提供History of Psychedelic Rock 迷幻樂的歷史Part 3 中文字幕Psychedelic rock is a style of rock music that attempts to replicate the mind-altering experiences of hallucinogenic drugs. It emerged during the mid 1960s among garage and folk rock bands in Britain and the United States. Psychedelic rock is a bridge from early blues-based rock to progressive rock and heavy metal, but it also drew on non-Western sources such as Indian music's rāgas and sitars. While the first contemporary musicians to be influenced by psychedelic drugs were in the jazz and folk scenes, the first use of the term "psychedelic" in popular music was by the "acid-folk" group The Holy Modal Rounders in 1964, with the song "Hesitation Blues."[citation needed] The first use of the word "psychedelic" in a rock music context is usually credited to The Deep, and the earliest known appearance of this usage of the word in print is in the title of their 1966 album The Psychedelic Moods of the Deep. Roky Erickson, lead singer of The 13th Floor Elevators, coined the term 'psychedelic rock' in a 1966 interview. In 1962, British rock embarked on a frenetic race of ideas that spread back to the US with the British Invasion. The folk music scene also experimented with outside influences. In the tradition of Jazz and blues many musicians began to take drugs, and include drug references in their songs. Beyond 再見理想05 Myth

Band: Beyond Album: 再見理想(Goodbye Ideals) Year: 1986 Song: Myth Lyric: It was a story told for years When a young girl dwelled this land With eyes shone like the star And a smile that charmed both heaven and earth The moon was ashamed when next to her And the flowers bowed their heads Her songs could tame the beasts Her songs could wave all sorrows away Yet that fate was envy about this girl And a plot was planned to lay her down To a pasture she was led Where the grass was always green In the midst of this wonderland Stood the plant that'd bring her permanent end Yet that fate was envy about this girl And a plot was planned to lay her down The plant of death was in her eyes Sending its fragrant through the air Laughter form below was heard With a touch the task was done Like an arrow it speared her heart Like venom it killed her light As her body slowly dropped Stopped the singing from around Her soul left without a sound The god of love was deeply hurt When the tragedy was known It cut right into his heart With tears and pain he flew to her To end this sorrow he drawn his sword How red the blood that sprayed around johnsonmusichk.blogspot.com Want more information for the song?
