I haven't posted in a while so I thought I would do a relatively simple song which quickly turned into 4 tracks, but not 87 as I have been kidded about. I dusted off my old 1975 Tascam 70 reel to reel (1/2" tape 4 track), mixed it down on a 'newer' Otari MX50 2 track mastering recorder (1/4" tape), then loaded it to the computer. I still have not embraced digital recording and probably never will. Big thanks go to B., my assistant and consultant on this song who helped with the recording and mixing, then insisted that I make a video in the harsh light of day LOL. I much prefer to make videos by cave light. Man, I'm getting OLD! LOL

This is the story about what happens when life interjects and you are suddenly faced with the possibility of getting your dream. Howard, the bread-winner of a family of four from Alexandria, Virginia was a mechanic for United Airlines who had just been promoted to supervisor. He loved his job, yet in the back of his mind he had always dreamed of sailing the world. His wife and two kids always mused Howard...talking about maybe, someday, in the distance future, *thinking* about buying a boat. That is, until 9/11 after which he was laid off as were most of the people he was to supervise. After struggling for a while working three jobs, Howard made a snap decision. Even before telling his wife, he put the wheels in motion to sell their home and buy a 50 foot sailboat, the sailing vessel "Moonshadow.". The first time his wife Sheira saw the boat, they already owned it. Tearfully she and the kids looked at the tiny vessel that would replace their home. Yet,his family settled into Howard's dream, selling or giving away most of their possessions and set sail with Sheira and their two young girls (then 7 and 9 years old). The only hitch? They had never sailed before. The adventure, challenge and tumultuous family dynamic that wraps around this decision to take to the seas is the story of MOONSHADOW.
