Jon Hopkins - Light Through The Veins (2009)

Insides is Hopkins first album in four years and debut for Double Six. Released on May 4th, the album is about strange contexts: natural, arcane textures welded to uneasy rhythms. Beautiful acoustic melodies set against jarring bass. Its an audacious record with a modernist lustre and magical aura all of its own. At an epic nine minutes in length, Light Through The Veins is a work of classic, hypnotic electronica. It draws the listener in with each pure, serpentine note, rises to a propulsive, euphoric climax, before finally dissolving into an ending of heartrending beauty and sadness. In fact, Coldplay were so taken with Light Through the Veins they used a reworked version to bookend last year's bestselling Viva La Vida and invited the 28-year-old Londoner to spend the last six months of 2008 opening their live shows across the USA and Europe. Jon Hopkins has co-written and co-produced the soundtrack for the forthcoming Peter Jackson film, The Lovely Bones, an adaptation of the book written by Alice Sebold, alongside Brian Eno.

Jon Hopkins - Vessel (Four Tet Remix) (2010)

Buy the track from iTunes here: itunes.apple.com DIRECTED AND PRODUCED BY BISON COMMISSIONED BY JAMES STEVENSON BRETTON AT BLINKINK BISON: "We'd been looking into an old 3D technique called "Anaglyph", which is the familiar red and cyan version of 3d that you used to get on the back of cereal boxes. The more we looked at various images that used this technique, the more we fell in love with the colours and decided that they should drive the aesthetic of the piece. In particular, we were intrigued as to what might happen if the two images were from drastically different sources. "The song is full of light and shade; with euphoric melodies and skipping glitchy beats. It seemed to us that themes of 'duality' ran through both the song and our visual idea. "We took those themes to our stylist, Justine Josephs who, along with our make-up artist Sally Marshall, created two opposing looks for our dancer, Claire Meehan. We spent a single day shooting in a South East London studio with Chris Nunn behind the camera and lights. "Finally came the edit and post-production process: We locked ourselves in the studio for 2 weeks working with After Effects. The process was pretty organic; we spent a week or so playing with the footage, developing different ideas and techniques, and then spent a further week moulding the disparate pieces into a solid video that ebbed and flowed in the right places." Marshall McLuhan at John Hopkins University Part 1/5

Herbert Marshall McLuhan, CC (July 21, 1911 December 31, 1980) was a Canadian educator, philosopher, and scholar — a professor of English literature, a literary critic, a rhetorician, and a communication theorist. McLuhan's work is viewed as one of the cornerstones of the study of media theory. McLuhan is known for the expressions "the medium is the message" and "global village". McLuhan was a fixture in media discourse from the late 1960s to his death and he continues to be an influential and controversial figure. More than ten years after his death he was named the "patron saint" of Wired magazine. Here he gives a lecture at John Hopkins University about language, media, and the brain.

Johns Hopkins Bayview Aliki Initiative

In 2007, the Center for Innovative Medicine at Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center launched the Aliki Initiative, a novel curriculum in patient-centered care for internal medicine residents and medical students. Under the direction of Dr. Roy Ziegelstein and Dr. Cynthia Rand, this program emphasizes that optimal medical care can be delivered only if medical treatments are tailored to the individual patient. During this experience, young physicians and physicians-in-training develop a deeper understanding of their patients' living situation and social support system. They call every patient and visit some of them at home after hospital discharge. The program, supported through the generosity of Mrs. Aliki Perroti, has been very highly evaluated by residents, medical students, and -- most importantly -- patients. For more information, please visit us at: www.hopkinsmedicine.org

More than a century ago, Johns Hopkins revolutionized the teaching of medicine with a new curriculum that merged evidence-based science with patient-centered clinical care. Johns Hopkins is launching the second revolution in medical education, and it will take place within a new, state-of-the-art education designed to support the new Genes to Society medical education curriculum. The curriculum is notable for its systems approach to understanding all levels of the human being, from the genes, molecules, cell and organs of the patient to the familial, community, societal and environmental components that affect patient health. www.hopkinsmedicine.org

The Joker's run w/ John Hopkins at Team Hammer on Daytona's famous speedway

The is 1st ever-dual cam video of my time at the Team Hammer RoadRace School on Daytona Speedway, Feb 26th '10. This was my 1st time there and all I can say is AWESOME! This track is the best track I have been on so far and the banking are so real, (and almost intimidating, lol) TV doesn't do it justice. It was cold (45*) but so what. What an experience! On top of that, the surprise was that the AMA racers were practicing as well and I got to meet John Hopkins, Ben Bostrom, Chris Ulrich, Martin Cardenas, Elena Myers, Larry Pegram, Robert Fischer (Roaring Toyz), and Dave Szonsky (SuperStreetBike Magazine). This vid shows my surprise run w/ Hopkins. What an honor! But don't forget ONE thing... everybody Hopkins passed, I passed as well. That felt real good.

Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center is the first hospital in Maryland with a dual-room intraoperative CT scanner and image-guided surgery system for neurosurgery. Having imaging capabilities in two of our operating rooms has a positive effect on our patient outcomes by improving safety, decreasing infections and lowering the risks of complications. The intraoperative CT (iCT) and image-guided surgery system create unmatched surgical vision and precision, allowing surgeons to see things others cant see during complex brain, spine and trauma surgeries.
