Jimi Hendrix & John McLaughlin jam (best quality)

This is the only high-quality version I've heard of this jam, out of several - including falsely titled ones. It's also the best part (being just before the Driving South section). Why John only took an acoustic guitar (with pickup) to the 'gig' in anyone's guess - I'm sure he had others at the time. Although he couldn't have used one of Jimi's, without re-stringing it first. Which reminds me - I've finally bought a proper Fender Stratocaster (white, left-handed), after years of owning copies and Strat-style guitars (with all the others). Look forward to hearing it, when I get around to making some new recordings. My home: www.myspace.com

Jimi Hendrix - Auld Lang Syne

Auld Lang Syne performed by Jimi Hendrix. From the Official Jimi Hendrix site: "As Christmas 1969 beckoned, Jimi Hendrix, bassist Billy Cox, and drummer Buddy Miles engaged in extensive rehearsals for their highly anticipated appearances at the Fillmore East in New York. Branded by Hendrix as the "Band Of Gypsys," the trio worked feverishly rounding such exciting new original material as "Izabella" and "Machine Gun" into form. Keenly aware of the special significance his forthcoming concerts represented, Jimi wanted to prepare something extraordinary for his audience. To mark the occasion in his own inimitable fashion, Jimi readied this special medley of holiday favorites to celebrate both Christmas and the dawning of a new decade. This recording was made at Baggy's Studios, a Manhattan rehearsal facility the group preferred. It by no means should be considered a polished studio recording made to Hendrix's exacting specifications. It is, instead, perhaps even more revealing. This is a glimpse of Jimi simply having fun in the company of close friends. The photograph of Jimi posing as Santa Claus was originally organized on behalf of the UK music newspaper Record Mirror. To help publicize the December 1967 release of Axis: Bold As Love, the group's second album, Jimi agreed to pose as Santa for the issue's cover. An alternate photograph from that session, with Jimi bearing gifts in the form of Axis: Bold As Love, is featured here. As an added bonus, also included is Jimi's ...

Dunlop Jimi Hendrix Octavio Octave Fuzz Pedal

www.ProGuitarShop.com-The Dunlop Jimi Hendrix Octavio is an exact clone of Jimi's cheese wedge pedal that is enshrined at the Experience Music Project in Seattle. The Dunlop engineers took great pains to bring the tone of this infamous pedal straight to you. Straight up Live at Fillmore tone and screaming fuzz is at your toetips with the Octavio. Complete with a switching Level knob to turn the unit off, the Jimi Hendrix Octavio recreates the exact breadboard circuit as the original. The Dunlop Jimi Hendrix Octavio is fuzzy and warm. The Octavio is not a high output pedal. This baby was built to vintage spec and it sounds vintage. Put your strat in the magic neck position and solo around the 12th fret and you'll see what I mean. Purple Haze has never sounded so exact. The octave effect is subtle just like the original but in front of a cranked Marshall, nothing is subtle. This pedal is best used in front of an already cranked amp, but can be used as a primary fuzz pedal by increasing the Fuzz knob. If you've been looking for that secret tone, the Jimi Hendrix Octavio is it.

JIMI CULLEN

BALCONYTV.COM 12/06/2008 PRESENTED BY TOM MILLETT If you want to go on a journey from protest songs through love songs to those that squeeze every drop of emotion out of you, then Jimi Cullen is the man for you. You will laugh and nod with understanding when he sings of hangovers and you'll cry when he reminds you of how many of us walk by homeless people on the street. He does not preach from a high horse, instead he shows us, sometimes not too gently, of what is really going on and then leaves it up to us. Jimi is a solo musician from Gorey, South East Ireland. He has been writing and performing for about three years and has built a good reputation as one of the hardest working musicians in Ireland with over 500 gigs to his credit. Needless to say such hard work is resulting in an increasing number of fans who are moved by his music and his song "On the Street" has surely got to be the anthem for all the homeless people in the world. When he sings that song you can almost touch the emotion he arouses in his listeners. It all began with Jimi hitchhiking around Ireland to his first gigs until he could afford a car at which time he started playing wherever he could and has since played some of Irelands finest stages with some of Irelands top acts like John Spillane, Paddy Casey, Declan O Rourke, The Revs, Aslan, David Kitt, Jinx Lennon, Mary Coughlan, Eleanor Mc Evoy, Roesy and the list goes on. His debut ep "Anthems for the doomed youth pt.1" was released to good acclaim ...

Jimi Hendrix Style Chords And Little Wing Pt.1 - Intermediate Guitar Lesson

www.GuitarLessons365.com This lesson is the first of two concentrating on the chord style of Jimi Hendrix. His chord work seemed to walk the line between rhythm and lead. I have broken-up his approach to rhythm with a few examples in the first video and in the second video we will use those examples to learn the intro to "Little Wing". This lesson was recorded with the guitar tuned to standard EADGBE tuning. Jimi's tunes one half step below standard tuning for this song, so if you wanna play along with him just tune every string down a half step. I taught the lesson in standard tuning because that is what most guitarist's play in. Please head on over to the main site http to see many other FREE video lessons that are being updated every day. "Room full of Mirrors" Jimi Hendrix Experience

Not the widely known version from the Rainbow Bridge soundtrack. This version, which to my mind is far superior, is a lot darker with a real sense of brooding and malevolence. Jimi's vocal are on top form, and the guitar break is searing and concise. Hope you enjoy this one from the vaults. The film was made as a tribute to the great man, and in honour of the 40th anniversary of his parting with this life.

Joni Mitchell Speaks About Jimi Hendrix

I've seen a shorter version of this interview in the past, but I just ran across this one and it's about twice as long. Joni is speaking about how Jimi recorded one of her shows in Ottawa, Canada. (Maybe the same night Jimi's Ottawa show was recorded. I've heard rumors that Jimi may have recorded his own Ottawa show) She also mentions how Jimi was concerned about moving on, from his Stage image as a wild performer to a more serious musician. I don't know exactly when this was recorded, but I'm assuming it's the early '70's,

Jimi Hendrix - Machine Gun (Norman, OK, USA May 8, 1970) Part One

Incredible version of this song...the intro gives me shivers. Song Analysis from justasktheaxis. com: Jimi asks crowd to "...forget about the hogwash and bullshit..." and dedicates 'Machine Gun' to "...the soldiers fighting in Chicago, Berkeley...Kent State (meaning the street 'soldiers' no doubt), Oklahoma (the last two amid cheers)...". Jimi then plays an off-the-cuff 1:30 intro that is one of the most haunting things I have ever heard! All of Jimi's music reflects his genius, but sometimes everything just falls into an even deeper place, and this is one of those times for me (every Jimi fan has their own, of course). Somewhat silly to try and pick apart such organic flows of imagination, but just to describe it in general, he starts with some lines from his 'Bolero' piece, moves to some sliding intervals ala 'Castles Made of Sand', segues to some flamenco style lines, then finishes with an absolutely brilliant chord progression that mixes some *very* high-on-the-neck notes with open strings, every note ringing out perfectly and the tension setting things up for the release of the familiar 'Machine Gun' opening. Again, we can never know what Jimi was thinking but I've always thought of this unique piece as a chilling eulogy for the Kent State victims, perfectly conjuring the mood of the moment. After this one-of-a-kind intro, Billy pushes the groove over Mitch's military rolls as Jimi gets into about a minute of soloing before the vocals enter, including a very Spanish ...

Eric Clapton - Stone Free - Jimi Hendrix Tribute

Stone Free: A Tribute to Jimi Hendrix is a 1993 album recorded by various artists in tribute to Jimi Hendrix. The artists were drawn from many genres of popular music. Contributors include his classic rock contemporaries Eric Clapton and Jeff Beck, blues man Buddy Guy, classical violinist Nigel Kennedy, alternative pop/rock bands Belly and Spin Doctors, hip hop artists PM Dawn, among others. According to the liner notes, the "artists were encouraged to not only record one of their own personal favorites but to also place their stamp on Jimi's songs." Several artists recorded radically different interpretations, particularly, PM Dawn, The Cure, Nigel Kennedy and Pat Metheny. Some artists, on the other hand, recorded versions that were rather similar to the originals. The band MACC is made up of Mike McCready (guitarist from Pearl Jam), Jeff Ament (bassist from Pearl Jam), Matt Cameron (drummer for Soundgarden and later for Pearl Jam), and Chris Cornell (singer of Soundgarden and later Audioslave). The cover of "Hey Baby (Land of the New Rising Sun)" is their only known recording. All four members of this group had previously worked together on the Temple of the Dog project.

2- "Machine Gun" Jimi Hendrix - Fillmore East (1st Jan 1970) [Rare Footage]

Fillmore East - January 1, 1970. First Show Entire Show Playlist www.youtube.com Jan Blom, whose photographic images formed the artwork for Jimi's 1970 album Band of Gypsys, also made a rare black and white videotape recording of the guitarist's Fillmore East performance on January 1, 1970. Together with second cameraman Woody Vasulka, Blom captured most of Jimi's first set on black and white, open reel videotape, a format still in its infancy. One camera was stationed on the balcony, while the other was placed on the floor to Hendrix's right. The bulky, often unreliable Sony portable camera and video tape recorders were rarely utilized during that era, particulary inside rock venues such as the Fillmore East. Nonetheless, Blom and Vasulka were fortunate enought to be on hand for one of Jimi's greatest performances. Their footage includes the group's unforgettable redention of "Machine Gun", which remains the centerpiece of Jimi's work with the Band of Gypsys. This is an acoustic loop version of Hey Joe. The intro and parts of the solos are improvised. Hey Joe was Jimi's first single recorded in 1966 in London. This is the song that first got peoples attention. I am using a Boss RC20XL loop sampler on parts of this tune. This is a one take performance with no overdubs. Just me and my looper. This is the way I would perform this song on a live gig. Although the message of this song is rather morbid, it is significant because of the fact that it was Jimi's first single.

Jimi Hendrix Remember

Jimi Hendrix was born in Seattle, Washington, on November 27, 1942. His mother named him John Allen Hendrix and raised him alone while his father, Al Hendrix, was off fighting in World War II. When his mother became sick from alcoholism, Hendrix was sent to live with relatives in Berkeley, California. When his father returned from Europe in 1945 he took back Hendrix, divorced his wife, and renamed him James Marshall Hendrix. When Jimi was 13 his father taught him to play an acoustic guitar. In 1959 Jimi dropped out of high school and enlisted in the US Army, but soon became disenchanted with military service. After he broke his ankle during a training parachute jump, he was honorably discharged. He then went to work as a sideman on the rhythm-and-blues circuit, honing his craft but making little or no money. Jimi got restless being a sideman and moved to New York City hoping to get a break in the music business. Through his friend Curtis Knight, Jimi discovered the music scene in Greenwich Village, which left indelible impressions on him. It was here that he began taking drugs, among them marijuana, pep pills and cocaine. In 1966, while Jimi was performing with his own band called James & the Blue Flames at Cafe Wha?, John Hammond Jr. approached Jimi about the Flames playing backup for him at Cafe Au Go Go. Jimi agreed and during the show's finale, Hammond let Jimi cut loose on Bo Diddley's "I'm the Man." Linda Keith, girlfriend of The Rolling Stones guitarist Keith ...
