
Generally these acoustic covers are spontaneous, they come up differently than virtual collab cover projects. It happened the same thing with Lavender by Marillion. One night I was just relaxing in my room and thought "mmm, I think this could be a pretty good song to record. Let´s work on it". Message in a Bottle, a super-classic by The Police, was more difficult to sing than what I expected, let alone if there´s nothing more than an acoustic guitar backing you up. I guess the fact that it´sa very well-known song made it even more difficult to pull off, because the interpreter must live up to the expectations viewers may naturally have when witnessing a cover of such a song. I hope my version does justice to Sting´s awesome song and vocal performance. ;) Moving to the guitar world, I really enjoyed recording the main track and overdubs in here. Some elements I learnt from live recordings ( one open chord progression was learnt by watching Andy live with Roberto Menescal, a Brazilian guitar player. Thanks for the free tickets, Juan! ), and others are just my own invention. I got to learn the original harmony thanks to the Better Than Therapy documentary, the one that comes as bonus material on the Certifiable DVD; The Police: live in Buenos Aires. Andy teaches John Mayer how to play that guitar part and the original riff too, so a thank you goes to Andy himself as well. lol! And to conclude, let´s blend both, vocals and guitar.
