This is a brief excerpt from the 2006 Finnish documentary Maan mainiot on Tuomas Holopainen, the songwriter and keyboardist of the metal band Nightwish. Tuomas is playing the soundtrack of The Village on his keyboard and explains why it's his favorite movie. Translation below is courtesy of Tika and Morrigan. I've added and revised the subtitles myself and uploaded it for my English utopia/dystopia project on the 2004 movie, The Village. :) I think that is perhaps the most beautiful soundtrack ever made. And the most beautiful movie. The Village. In the beginning of the year, when I was going through difficult times, it was hard to keep on track with what was happening when there were all kinds of trouble and drama. More than in the last ten years altogether. That movie helped me through that. I remember that I watched it at least ten times a week. Some days two or three times. That movie is a great example of escapism. I would be ready to move into that village any time. (Also, please note I had a similar video up earlier but deleted it because I've finally been able to make the subtitles larger and closer to the bottom of the screen. Tuomas is talking about the gig at Rock Am Ring which was a disaster due to power failure, due to Anette´s stamina we managed to overcome the problem, the next gig at Rock Im Park was good. Then we had a few weeks holiday, all the member have their good and bad days, but it´s good that we have 5 members, so if some-one has a bad day there are still 4 members who have a good day. They are all laughing about the media hassle concerning Anette´s style. No-one in Nightwish has a stylist. They all wear what they feel like. For exemple at Tuska Festival, I had so positive and good feeling that I wanted to wear something white. And Anette, she had her "troll-day" so she wore that dress. Tuomas thinks that this controversy Anette vs. tarja has been quite mild, only one middle-finger so far and we have done about 120 gigs. I expected much, much worse. Fans have really given Anette a chance. Due to Anette we have now many new fans, etc.

This is the first video I've ever made, so be nice, please :) After a week I spent doing this tribute to Tuomas (my Angel) I feel satisfied. The fight with WMM was worth (at least for me). If you think I'm crazy, obsessed with him or whatever... don't think - it's true. And who wouldn't be? He's so out of this world :P All I wanted to say is that he REALLY is a man with the most beautiful smile. ;) And even though I'm kinda over him now [made the vid almost 3 years ago], because NW disappeared from the surface of this planet [= I need NEW music!], he is STILL out of this world! I'm also out of this world, wish I could make as much monrey with it as he most likely does! xD Somebody pointed out "most beautiful smile and most beautiful voice". My answer to this is: "Hell yeah!" Don't get me started on the way he speaks Finnish. If he spoke German, I'd probably love even THAT as I really dislike the sound of it for no good reason... :P
