The first one was, well, not my best cover. This time, I'm hoping you guys enjoy it a bit more. I would always blame the fact that he was on electric drums in the other one as to why the mixing suffered, but I feel like now that he's on an acoustic set, it's just that I need more practice mixing drums. I feel this one was a lot stronger than the last, but eventually, I'd love to get some really awesomely recorded drums and just go crazy. :) Those of you that wish to jam along with us, just note that I'm actually not playing in my usual drop C for this! Because of the fact that song was in B, I didn't want to change the key so I just conformed to the brutal drop B for this one. Still not as crazy as Drop A or G, but really heavy none-the-less. Also, I took some liberty with some of the riffs, namely the intro and a few scale runs that I thought sounded better a bit more simpler. I tryed the origional riffs for everything, but sometimes I have to just accept that some things just sounds better as 8-bit. Another Parkway Drive song! Can you tell I'm really into this band right now? This song has some awesome riffs. I absolutely love the fast verse riff played with all down picking. While there's no solo, there's a very cool tapping lick over the breakdown parts. There's also a challenging riff in the middle with fast hammer-ons and pull-offs. You may notice my tone sounds different (hopefully better!) in the video. The reason is that I bought a POD X3 for my birthday (it was on August 1st), and I made a custom tone trying to duplicate as closely as possible PWD's sound. I think I got it pretty close. Regarding the distortion in this video: I was not using speaker cabinet simulation on my POD, so the tone sounds very harsh and fizzy. I had LOADS of requests to play Psychosocial by Slipknot, well mainly to just play Slipknot, so I did. If you're wondering how the hell I got my guitar down to drop A - I didn't, I recorded the guitar in drop C then changed the pitch. The rhythm is pretty simple for this song, the solo was a bit trickier though, I think I did it alright. I had to make the backing track (drums and bass) using guitar pro to program the midis and a couple of plug-in's to generate the tracks (EZDrummer and Virtual Bassist). About the guitar work, there are 2 main guitars during the whole song (one to the left channel and another to the right channel). And from time to time a 3rd guitar appears playing lead. So you could say there are 3 guitars in the song. I covered them all. Just as a note... On the original song, on the left channel during the first Verse (0 to 0:39 in my video), theres no guitar, thats a keyboard I think. But I played those notes on guitar. Some days ago I came to youtube looking for covers to this song. Dont get me wrong, there were some interesting ones, but I was sad none of them played the song right despite its a very simple song. So since I love the tune, here Im trying to make an accurate cover to this great song.
