David Copperfield - Flying (Levitation)
David Copperfield flies like a bird, pushing against the wind. He then flies through rotating hoops and then sealed inside a glass box, to prove there is nothing supporting him. This was first shown on television during 1992, for Copperfield's 14th magic special, The magic of David Copperfield XIV: Flying - Live the dream. No computer effects or edits are used in this illusion, and the perspex box has been previously inspected by two random audience members. The people who are seated around him on stage are the two back rows of the theatre, who David invited to join him on stage. It is worth noting that even the woman he flies with, does not know how the illusion is done! Terrafugia - Flying Car
Woburn, MA June 3, 2009: Terrafugia, Inc. has successfully completed the flight testing program designed for its Transition Roadable Aircraft Proof of Concept. Having been dubbed The Flying Car, the Transition completed its historic first flight on March 5, 2009 with 27 additional flights completed over the next several weeks. The successful completion of flight-testing with the Proof of Concept concludes the first stage of a four stage process to bring the Transition into production. Work is underway on Stage 2, the Beta Prototype. First delivery is expected in 2011. The Proof of Concept vehicle is the first and only Transition to be built thus far. It has now achieved its goals by demonstrating driving, flying, and automated transformation between the two in one integrated aircraft. The flights conducted a plan set specifically for the Transition: characteristics such as handling, performance, and take-off and landing, stability and stall were evaluated. B-Roll footage is available of representative flights. The flight-testing program demonstrated the safety of the vehicle in the air while identifying modifications that will be incorporated into the next Transition model to be built, the Beta Prototype. Test Pilot Colonel (Retired) Phil Meteer had a positive review of flying the POC: I would like to keep flying this Proof of Concept vehicle, but it makes sense to move on to the Beta Prototype. PAL-V Flying Car - Maiden Flight
This week the Dutch company PAL-V announced the first flights of its prototype "flying car". This unique vehicle is called the PAL-V One, or the 'Personal Air and Land Vehicle', and It marks the start of a new era. On the ground the vehicle drives like a sports car. Within minutes its rotor is unfolded and its tail is extended: then it is ready to take off thanks to the advanced gyrocopter technology. With these successful test results it is proven that it is not only possible to build a flying car but also that it can be done within existing international rules for both flying and driving. Having passed this important milestone the company is now inviting investors to join them in creating the future. The next step will be the design of the first commercial production model of the PAL-V, and first deliveries are expected in 2014. Amazing Helicopter Flying Snoopy
One of the best helicopter flying shows I have ever witnessed, amazing pilot skills and a real element of risk. Back in 1990 free entertainment was very different to today. The context of this video asks the audience to consider yesterdays entertainment and compare it to today. Will we ever see helicopter flying like this again? From the video soundtrack I can hear the man on the ground is Major Steve Graham, hopefully the pilot of Snoopy will be revealed in time and where Snoopy is today.
