The series was created to aid BMW in building enough M1s to enter the Group 4 classification in the World Championship for Makes. The series ran for two years, with Niki Lauda winning the 1979 season, and Nelson Piquet the 1980 season. The BMW M5 is a high performance version of the BMW 5-Series executive car built by the Motorsport division of BMW. Dyno BMW E34 535 turbo
I helped the owner install VEMS engine management on his BMW E34 535 turbo about four years ago, and he's been using it ever since as a daily driver. www.youtube.com The latest hardware upgrade was a Dbilas 308 cam and M5 separate throttlebodies. The head has been ported, lightening of the stock valves, stronger valve springs, IE heavy-duty rockers. The bottom end is completely stock and a standard gasket is used with ARP studs, and no O-rings. Other than that the turbo is a Holset HX50 (63 mm inducer) which is mounted on an adapter to the two stock exhaust manifolds with pulse-split function, charge air is cooled by a larger air-air intercooler, fuel through two in-tank mounted pumps and 788 cc/min injectors, and CDI spark using the stock distributor ignition system. It breathes pretty good, best so far on a Dynapack: 607 whp @ 6800 rpm / 1.33 bar. All tuning and driving with 95 RON octane gasoline.

This car is a '92 525i with an M50 motor with 0.020" Wiseco Pistons, 8.5:1 compression, eagle rods, and an M52 crankshaft. It is running a T4 PT76GTS turbo @ 28 - 29 psi in this video and 93 octane lukoil pump fuel with 50:50 water/methanol from an Aquamist HFS-6 for 685.9 RWHP.

1992 E34 525i "The Weiss Guy" S52 swap, OBD1 conversion, M50 manifold, Turner 24lbs injectors, Raceland Headers, Resonator Delete, UUC lightweight flywheel (8lbs), M5 clutch, UUC Short Shift Kit, Custom Hot Air Intake, M3 MAF, LSD, Jim Blair Tune. This was on a "Dyno Dynamics" Dyno, -aka- "The Heartbreaker". They tend to read 12% to 20% lower in HP than most other Dynos. The car ran a best 208.4 HP which would be in the mid 230s to 240s hp on most others. All the work on the car was done by myself and German Car Repair, Roswell GA, and myself. :-) "Buckhead Imports" hosted the Dyno Day.

crbmw.padealsonline.com Motor / Transmission: The car runs and drives GREAT! The engine and transmission are STRONG. We just serviced the car before winter, changed all fluids using BMW and Redline fluids- installed a new belt tensioner, 2 new belts, new water pump and flushed the coolant system. I've driven the car MYSELF over the past year and a half and it looks good and runs great. The Engine runs 100% & the transmission shifts 100%. As I mentioned above- I have a few parts to do a 5-speed conversion to this car (We've done over 100+ BMW 5-speed conversions) But, I ended up selling the 5-speed transmission and driveline. I have: e34 5-speed pedals, flywheel, clutch, pressure plate, t-bearing, both master and slave cyl.'s, fluid feedline, console insert, shifter, etc... These parts DO NOT come with the car but, can be purchased after the auction if you would want to do the conversion. We charge around $2000-2500. (depending on parts,upgrades,etc..) to do this swap- parts and labor. Exterior: The car is clean for the miles, the orig. Alpine white paint is nice and it was garage kept all of its life, The car came from California, to Chicago then to PA and I have all the reciepts including a TRANSMISSION replacement and MANY other repair bills up to 190000 miles. The car was even garaged the day I bought it. The body has a few small dings here and there but, very minor dings. The windows were tinted and are near perfect, the front low beams have been removed and euro spec <b>...</b>

BMW E34 520i hard starting + very rough idle
After driving the whole day using LPG, engine wouldn't work when switched to petrol, also i was unable to start it on petrol, but it was starting just fine when on LPG and warm engine. Now since engine is cold the car doesn't start on LPG and it's also barely starting on petrol and having rough idle. The car is 90 E34 520 with m20b20, LPG/petrol conversion. I'm not good when it comes to car mechanics, but i'm thinking, could it be the fuel pump? Maybe someone has any other ideas what could be the problem? Thanks. BTW fuel light on the dashboard is always on and fuel gauge doesn't work either. -----2010--- Well, it turned out to be a fuel pump, replaced it and everything started just fine -----2012--- i sold the car last year, bought a Mercedes w210:)
